For meat lovers the “Brazilian steakhouse” means the rodizio-style (eat as much as you can) serving of meat on skewers, while salads and accompaniments are brought to your table or offered as a buffet. As our favourite churrascaria has closed down we went to Mocellin Steak on the other side of Avenida Armando Lombardi. They emphasized that this was a new concept: the meat (except for filet mignon and picanha) does not come on skewers, but is offered from plates; OK, there is nothing wrong with that. And, to be fair, the quality of the meat is quite high (although we missed some specialities, like the ‘picanha nobre com alho’ (sirloin cap with garlic) or the lamp chops. What was served was good: the lamb leg was outstanding, the picanha was all right, the filet mignon with cheese excellent.
The great disappointment came with the salads and accompaniments. There is no salad buffet, we selected two salad plates, both very-very weak, not really fresh and not really tasty. The ‘batata portuguesa’ (fresh chips) came straight out from the bag, there was no cheese bread, the other accompaniments were just so-so.
The caipirinha was not really good. Service was acceptable, but not outstanding. With the special price (down from R$ 129.00 to R$ 89.90) it was not expensive. We shall not return.
