Scattered around Rio de Janeiro in a 2-3 radius there are loads of pousadas that claim tranquility and hiking trails and charm - and so often are bitterly disappointing. The Paraiso massively exceeded our expectations. Lovely setting, amazing natural rock pool, tons of activities for the kids (archery, minigolf, pingpong etc) but discreet so it never felt like Disneyland, great hiking trails right there on the property and lovely waterfalls to swim in. Comfortable, clean rooms. Lovely staff. The food was something of a disappointment but the setting was so nice we just had more wine and didn't worry too much. We will definitely return.

Everything everyone has written about this pousada is totally true - The chalets are set up in a very harmonious way with the nature - you can feel the chalets were build to accommodate nature and not the other way round - having said that the chalets are top notch with great beds, fire place stocked with a whole bunch of wood, the staff is super nice and helpful and the owners are 10 out of 10 as even with our two year old boy they adapted to help us out by serving diner for us a bit earlier than usual and didn't charge for the delicious food they prepared for our boy! This is the way to gain loyal customers - thank you Mariana, Bernardo, Roberto and Vanda for making us feel at home and as friends as well. As a final remark besides the great food and chalets, you have different areas to sit and relax such as the bar, living area, as well as sports such as Padel, volley ball, arrow shooting, natural rock pool, wall climbing, nature hikes, bird watching with great photo opportunities (bring at least a 300 mm lens for best results). This pousada is definitely the full package and we can wait to go back there as the area of Posse also has plenty of eco-rural things to see and visit such as snail farms, butterfly gardens, organic stores and organic farms - all set out in unpaved roads surrounded by Mata Atlantica rain forest!

Room Tip: We stayed at the Colibri chalet but I think it is worth going for the chalets that have a jacuzzi as...

We stayed at Pousada Paraiso for 2 nights with our three young children (aged 6,5 and 3). The accommodation and food were both good but what made the pousada extra special was the welcome and hospitality of the owners and staff. There are plenty of activities to suit all ages and the owners are extremely knowledgeable about the natural habitat around the pousada - makes for very interesting walks! Although not specifically set up for young children, the owners went out of their way to make sure our children were catered for and well entertained. Lots of little details around the place (hand crafted decoration in the bedrooms, lovely open kitchen where you are welcome to watch proceedings, lots of home produce from herbs from the garden to fresh bread in the mornings) made this pousada a very welcome retreat.

Room Tip: For a family of 5 we took 2 small adjoining chalets each with a double bed. Sleeping arrangements wo...

I spent four days in Pousada Paraiso with my husband and our eleven years old son. The place is very beatiful, on the top of a mountain, sourrounded by a small forest. The owners could not do more to give us a pleasant stay. There are a lot of outdoor activities, tracks in the forest, a natural swimming pool, bird watching walks. There is a small place with material and an instructor of artcrafts for the case you are not in the mood for outdoors activities. There is also a room with a big screen and dvds.Accomodations are quite confortable, very clean and cozy. I had a Jacuzzi in my room. The food is very good , there is a small but correct selection of wines and they were glad to attend the requests of families with small children. A very pleasant and relaxing stay. Planning to come back soon.

Room Tip: You must request a room with a jacuzzi. Some rooms are near the reception, others are a short walk f...

A charming place, sourranded by mountains. My wife and I usually go there to relax. The owners do their best to make you feel at home. Another good point is the quality of the food: many ingreadients are from their own vegetable garden.
We highly recommend this place.
