“Convenient Location, Beautiful Grounds”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

Stayed here with a group for a weekend in January 2014.

The grounds are beautiful, as is the pool. The breakfast is pretty decent- ample amounts of fresh fruit. This hotel has a great location, it is a 10 minute walk from the historic part of town. It has air conditioning which is great, as it can get very humid in Paraty!

The wi-fi and TV were a bit lacking- wifi timed out and was slow, TV only had SBT and Rede Globo- but there's no need to spend time on your computer or watching TV, as there is a lot to do in Paraty! I'd recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: They are all pretty good.

We stayed here for 4 nights and thought the hotel was great.
The accommodation is quite basic but the grounds are gorgeous and the location is fantastic.
My partner is a huge nature fan and within minutes of arrival spotted his first ever Hummingbird!

The room was quite dark with no hair dryer and interesting Brazilian electrics in the shower however the air con worked and we got a hammock for our porch. Most importantly it was clean and we rented a safe. FYI - don't forget your shower gel and beach towels. Nothing like that is provided. And you'll also need you're own bottles of water too. Like other reviews have suggested you will need mosquito repellent but that's the case for everywhere in Paraty.

The staff were very friendly and helpful although their english was limited but we managed.
Breakfast was basic, no cereals or hot food but fruit, bread, cheeses and meats.
The pool and its furniture could do with an update too.

There is wifi in the breakfast area but it can be unreliable. And there's plenty of parking if you're driving.

The location was fantastic, right on the river so a lovely walk beside it to get in and out of town which takes about 10 minutes. Alternatively go straight over the bridge to the main street and you hit the the bank machines and all the necessary facilities.

If you're staying in your room in Paraty, you're missing out on the amazing sites! So we weren't too worried about the basic room.

I would happily choose this hotel again for the location instead of going for a flashier hotel that's further out of town. Make sure you do a boat trip while you're in town and the jungle/waterfall day out!

We stayed for 5 nights and found the location to be perfect. Its not in the old city, but instead its on the border, no need to drive your car or walk on the old cobblestones, there is a bridge at the front that connects you with a quick 5 minute walk you are in the old city, also easy access to all the restaurants, bank, shopping etc.

The pool is amazing, the gardens are perfectly manicured. And my most favourite part is the animals throughout the grounds. Freindly pet cats. And we were lucky enough to have a room with a tree at the verandah that had a family of 11 monkeys! So cute.

The rooms are basic but unless you want indoors holiday it would not matter. Aircon good, and bathroom basic but good.
My tip: buy a mosquito plug for wall to scare them away when you sleep. You will always have mosquitos in any of the areas in paraty due to weather and rivers etc.
Great privacy due to all bungalows being spread out on the property.

Breakfast is fresh and nice, having the basic of brazil... Bread, hams, cheeses, fruits, coffee, tea. Freshly squeezed juices were great too. Plus the sweet bread with coconut is yummy.
Being situated on the river its great to run on the footpath that connects to the main beach of paraty. 10 minute run to the beach from here.
Staff were very freindly and helpful.
I would stay here again for sure!

I came here, I think, back in 2009 and reviewed this wonderful place. Well I was there last month, May 2012 and it was just as magical as ever. We even had the same room! This is simply a beautiful pousada, the grounds are sublime. you are well away from the noise of the centre, but close enough so it's an easy walk. The staff and management are as pleasant and friendly as ever, always there but never in your face. The room was comfortable and I lived in the hammock outside. It is so peaceful and relaxing, the perfect place for a holiday. I cannot recommend this place enough.
The ONLY think i would say is chaps, time to get some new TVs, the reception sucks a bit, but honestly, do you go on holiday to watch TV? Thought not.

Oh, and now they have tiny monkeys. TINY MONKEYS!!! and loads of excellent cats.

I will be coming back here, I will ALWAYS come back here, we love it.

It's the 4th time we come here, always a great place to stay, most because I LOVE animals and that's what you will probably find here, and most everywhere in Paraty. Don't like bugs, mozzies, bites, dogs and cats? Stay in your big city so. This wonderful historic town is surrounded by mata atlantica, and as well, bugs. anyway, this pousada is very friendly, excellent welcoming, big pool, loads of trees and gardens and very quiet as it is far from the noisy bits (most on carnaval or high season). Breakfast is generous (good assortment of breads, fruits, fresh fruit juices - not yellow in a jar- teas, etc, etc). They have some cats, but thy are very freindly and do not go into the rooms or mess around during breakfast, they are top class well looked after cats, fat and cudly. It would be very unfair to low the points of reviews but the only thing I'd suggest to them is to get some better tvs, In the end, one of the best places I've ever stayed in Paraty.

Arriving by bus into Paraty we visited the tourist centre opposite to find accommodation. We wanted to be close to the historical centre without paying a premium for being within the centre. Parque Hotel was a perfect location requiring a 5-10 min walk along the riverbank to arrive at the historic centre and/or beach. Entrance is via iron gates and reception is to the right - keys are dropped off and picked up in this area and the gates are locked at night. On the way to rooms is a large comfortable sitting room adjacent an outdoor/indoor bar area where the included breakfast is served. We loved the privacy aspect of this pousada. All rooms are almost hidden behind bushy flowering hedges and building layout is such that entrances are totally private from the room next door, even the pool is surrounded by greenery. The grounds are green and lush with brick paths providing the way to your private entrance and a verandah. The rooms contain a minibar, storage cupboards and wardrobe, a TV (bad reception) and a roomy bathroom with guest toiletries and towels. Storage cupboards hold spare pillows and blankets. The rooms are quite rustic in nature and windows should be closed at night to keep mosquitoes outside - plug-in insect devices are available from reception but don't appear to be very efficient. I could have easily stayed at this pousada for a week or more - clean, comfortable beds with a good, hot shower and clean towels. The pousada is opposite the town's river walk, pleasant day and night, and a bridge to the other side - although turning left along the riverbank and taking the next bridge has you inside the historic centre. Keep walking (not over the bridge) and you will be at the beach area with kiosks, tables and chairs.
