Until you've been in Paraty a while you don't realise how well situated the hotel is. Its situated in the historic centre in the pedestrianised area yet you can drive right up to the side of it for checking in (the hotel will then park your car).
The welcome we got was first class and we were helped with bags, given an upgraded room (as it was our anniversary) and had the car parked for us.
The receptionists were all very helpful (particularly Patrick who recommended some great restaurants during our stay).
The hotel is a very old building and we had a great room on the 1st floor (UK term - 2nd floor for USA!) which was spacious and super quiet (there are shutters). Room 205. All the rooms are named as well as numbered and there is a short piece in the room about the person that your room is named after.
Breakfast is plentiful and you can sit inside or outside.
The pool is quite small but there is a very nice bar with comfy seating next to it.
The hotel has a sauna and steam room (which we did't use) but is superbly situated for walking around the cobbled streets of Paraty.
Would definitely recommend even though it's slightly pricey, the staff and the position certainly make it worthwhile.More
