This hotel is part of a famous brazilian club of historic hotels.

It is located in the historic center of Paraty and in - what's left of it - an historic building.

But a few details shadow this authenticity...

Room: it was spacious (except bathroom), but dark, noisy (ground floor), old-fashioned and not decorated.
Breakfast: regular buffet, but in a very noisy and over-packed room (with TV on! This has nothing to do with an "hotel de charme"). Pão de queijo was served by waiters as if it was gold nugget!
Staff: nice and helpful, although the reception staff told us they could arrange another room for us, this has not be "concretized"... Obviously, the manager was not concerned about our complaints regarding the room (dark, noisy,...).
Location: perfect

The lobby and the bar by the (very small) pool are probably the best parts of the hotel, but the drinks were awfully expensive!

Our overall opinion of this hotel is that it is over-priced and over-rated. We had big expectations, not only because of the price, but also the "standing" of the hotel. We just stayed 2 months before at another historic hotel in Paraty. The experience was without comparison!

Expectations did not meet reality... But Paraty and its beaches compensated!

We (family with 2 children) stayed in Pousada Porto Imperial for 3 nights in July 2016. Overall, this is a good place to stay. They have family rooms (with two rooms) which can comfortably accommodate a family of four. The location is excellent, in the historical center of the lovely village of Paraty. All walking distance. Wifi worked well. Breakfast was OK (but not outstanding). Friendly and welcoming staff. I would recommend it and hopefully stay there again.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights during the weekend. Beautiful hotel with special attention to details. Each room has a name of a famous person with a full description of who and what they did inside the room. The staff is very friendly and attentive, always ready to help. The only complaint I would have is the walls are a little thin and if your neighbor is loud you can hear them. It didn't happen to us but we could clearly hear people talking in the hallway. In all a wonderful and very charming place.

Very beautiful colonial style hotel, with amazing areas at every corner, with attention to details. Room was very spacious, bathroom rather small. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast in very beautiful area. We loved the pool and the caipirinhas at the bar. Excellent location in the historical center. We would definitely go back!

We stayed at the hotel during 5 nights. The rooms were a tiny bit on the small side to comfortable and functional. The beds were comfortable and there was free wifi. As we stayed there during Easter, the younger ones received eggs and chocolates which was greatly appreciated.

There is a swimming pool in the hotel as well as a very nice bar to chill out to have a drink. The staff was extremely kind and courteous as well as being ready to help us organize trips and reserve restaurants.

The breakfast was very complete with a big assortment of fruits and breads.

Our stay at the hotel was extremely enjoyable though the rooms could be bigger. We got the value of what we had paid.
