“Great hike to surfing town”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

If you like to walk and aren't in a hurry get directions here as well as to the Pool you can hike up to from the little village.

“Scruff and polluted - many many better options here”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

All the pousadas and 'guides' go on about this place as a 'tour with a rainforest walk', etc. But the reality is that this is just a very average scruffy beach with many concrete bars (often closed/empty) strewn with debris (naturally, rotten organic material from the trees), and rubbish from the trekkers. There are many many better beaches to explore here.

“Great beach, slightly epic to get to though!”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Beautiful, very local and pretty deserted beach. You have two ways to get there. We drove to this very expensive looking villa complex and asked at the security gates for a boat to take us to Sono beach. It cost 40 reals each for a return journey. We then had to park our car and then get in a van, go through the villa complex (past the golf course!) to the jetty where we had a reasonably bumpy ride to the beach. You can also leave your car (they charge 55 reals for that!) and walk about 40 mins to an hour through the rainforest to the beach. We didn't do that, but it sounded nice and some people have seen monkeys and toucans while doing that.

“Beautiful and secluded beach”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

This beach can be reached by boat or by 1hr hike, the hike is more rewarding as you got to see the full beach view from the top. Going down to the beach, you would feel you own the beach to yourself (only few people on the beach), the clear blue water, the rocks and the green of the mountain view is just fantastic. From this beach you can continue to hike to Antigos, another beautiful and secluded beach and you can follow the trails all the way up to ponta negra to witness another breathtaking view. What an amazing and memorable trip for me. Go with a guide if you want to take this trails up to Ponta Negra as you will go deep to the forest, it is not too difficult and definitelly really rewarding. I did the trails with Jorge (www.espiritolivre.net), he knows the area so well and definitelly will make sure you have a great time.
