This was a fantastic day out starting off with an energetic but not overly-long hike to the fjord (apparently you can even see whales there if you are lucky!), then along the beach front until we took a quick boat ride across the fjord and climbed the sugarloaf peak with time for a quick swim on the way! Nothing I could say can really prepare you for the view from the top. You emerge from the thick forest and pick your way to the treeless rocky summit where you are greeted by a panorama that takes in a glorious combination of narrow spits of forest-clad land fringed by beaches separated by the azure sea. Tiny islands and far-off shores add further magic to a view that repays the effort of the climb a hundred-fold.
Paddy and Rodrigo are the guides and they combine the energy, experience and expertise on local history and ecology necessary to complete the package. Perfect.
