I had a great experience in this restaurant the attention to detail and off course the food.
The atmosphere is romantic and relaxing. To end up nicely he brings to you some homemade liquor with grapes infused in a shot glass, very nice and tasty! Try it

Le Castellet is a small and charming restaurant with a delightful owner and great but simple food. Yves, the owner, talked us through the menu in French. His English is fairly limited. We started us off with wonderful home-made rosemary and walnut bread accompanied by 6 different kinds of herb-infused olive oil (again home-made). Then the savoury crepes arrived. They are huge and delicious, a crispy base for various tasty toppings. We had beef in mustard, cream sauce and goats cheese and Mediterranean vegetables . Both were delicious and filling. We ended with creme brulée which was again very good. Although crepes were the main focus of the menu other tasty sounding meals were available. The wine list was reasonable and very fairly priced. We ended with some complimentary grapes in cognac. This is certainly a place we would head back to if we are in Paraty again.

Hi....I just wanted to say that my first dinner...i had a great experience......The chef-owner was there....introduce his menu...and everything when smooth...Now the second time (The dinner next day)....i had a very bad experience......First!!!!...took more than 12 minutes to get a server at the table......when we finally ordered two of our choices were run out......we ordered a soup (Cream of onion soup) of the day as a first course and a special (Cod Aioli) as an entree........after one hour of waiting....without bread....because they were backing!!!!.... it at 940 PM..no bread for service????.....i asked the server about the soup.....and he told me that the chef though that they were togehter???.......ok......bad luck right????...... i don't know but for me waiting an hour for any meal is way too much....20 to 25 max.....We asked for a creme brulee....it was my wife birthday.....it came with candles...that was nice.....but again.....he put brown sugar on top (i always saw white castle)??? and then torched it.......but he burned it.......it tasted sour and was not crisp!!!! For a french chef.....that's a shame!!!!
On top of that we ordered two french breads for the next day.....And he forgot to reserve mine, but he didn't admitted, cause he went a bring me two from the oven....but i could tell that they were not ready because they didn't have the same crust us the first night we had dinner and inside was doughy.
By the way the server is wearing a t-shirt from another hotel....(Because he only works there on the weekends......no problem right??? Ok....but the sponsor of that t-shirt is VISA....and the restaurant only accept cash....funny isn't it?.

So be aware...........go there had a great dinner...hope they are inspired that night....and never go back....because u won't get the same quality service twice!!!!
It's a shame that they lack of consistancy....but they do!!!

The new question put forth by Trip Advisor is unfair! For those of us who dine out regularly and worldwide there are too many things that make a meal perfect! Ambiance, the mood you are in, the people you are with the service, the attention to detail and off course the food. Mediocre food can be delicious under the right circumstances. Just as delicious food can be ruined under the wrong circumstances. Now that I have said my piece about Trip Advisors new question I will give my review for LE CASTELLET. remember you are in a historically significant Brasilian town. You would not expect to find innovative and delicious true French food here, but there are exceptions and this is one of them. Owned by a young Marseilles chef he specializes in wonderful country crepes. Those platter sized pancakes left open faced and covered with wonderful and tasty concoctions with the tastes of the south of France. Think a French pizza. For example I had the delicious morsels of filet mignon in a light mustard sauce on a huge pancake. You can actually split the portion with your companion. I highly recommend this as you will want to try his dessert crepes as well. The chef is delightful, happy and helpful. His restaurant is tiny with with six or seven tables for two our three and one large table for 8. On the cobbled lane in front which is pedestrian traffic only he sets up three to four more. The decoration is very southern French and includes his Marseille Soccer Jersey from when he played professional soccer. He has a bakery and will prepare picnic baskets for day trips to the islands with red check cloths, bottle of wine and wicker basket. We love this little part of overseas France and always try to stop by when in Paraty. On our very first visit the first months he was open in 2007 we knew we liked him when he took the joke from our son who's French is fluent for a bottle of catsup to go on his crepe. The chefs face and hands in the air gesture was from a film until he realized he was being teased. We all still lauh about it. Evening dining with candlelight is truly romantic. Relaxed atmosphere but dress for a delightful and memorable dining experience.

This tiny little place was perfect. The owner/chef was very attentive & friendly. He definitely goes out of his way to make sure you enjoy the meal. The food was amazing - everything tasted perfect & SO fresh. My girlfriend thought it was one of the best meals she's ever had. It's a very cute, romantic, well decorated place that isn't too crowded or loud - just the right ambiance - a little bossa nova music in the background. We ordered crème brûlée for dessert - he burned the top right @ our table... & we didn't want to eat anything else after because it would take the taste out of our mouths :)
