“Great View - Quiet, Business Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 5, 2011

The hotel grounds are very safe and the pool area is beautiful, but do not wander off the property at or near nightfall. There are wonderful views of the Rio skyline from the pool area and rooms in the back. Nice landscaping. Staff were very friendly, but I wish I knew more Portuguese since they did not speak English. (I am working on learning more Portuguese. It is their country after all!) This is a reasonable alternative to expensive hotels in Rio, if you have business in Niteroi or friends/family in the area. If you want to travel to and from Rio itself every day, there is only one "bridge" to/from Niteroi and it can take awhile.

The room was large and clean, but "no frills" as compared to an American hotel. (For example, this is not a Hampton Inn with wonderful sheets and a free breakfast in the morning. Seeing as this is Brazil, and that's the point of travel, I certainly did not expect it to be.) You can opt to add breakfast to your room rate, but I did not choose to do so since it was expensive.

This room is much larger than a standard room in America, the size of a small, one-bedroom apartment. It is what we would call a suite. There are tile floors, and the bathroom has a nice size shower and sink area, but no tub. (This is fine by me, but if travelling with small children, that's something you need to know.) There are window units of AC which will be turned off when you leave the room so the first thing you need to do is turn them back on at night. There is an in room safe, kitchen, and refrigerator (a large one at that).

I was not in the most expensive room category, I was in the second highest category. I will certainly return.

I was travelling in Rio during Fashion Week, so I stayed here because it was the only company recommended hotel that was vacant. This is a decent hotel if you have business in Niteroi, but not good for anyone who wants to enjoy Rio. Tourists should stick to Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.
The first thing I noticed, is that nobody seems to know the hotel exists. The taxi driver from the airport drove me around for over an hour trying to find the place. Finally, when I arrived, I found the front desk to be very accomodating. I had a late flight the next day and they agreed to a late check out. The room was very large, with a kitchen and sitting area. It was clean, but quite plain. The bed was adequate. The food from the restaraunt was average. The pool was nice also. The exercise room was terrible. Go for a jog/ walk on the bay. The views of Rio from across the bay are extrodinary, however that can be said of almost any location in Rio.

The hotel is very high priced for what it gives, the only thing that really impressed me was the view to Rio.

you don't have a lot of hotel choices in Niteroi. We stayed in a suite on the 6th floor overlooking the water. It had 2 large balconies and plenty of room. The view of the bay and Rio is spectacular. your right across the water from the airport and can watch planes going in and out, but the noise is not disturbing. The statue of Christ in the distance is lit at night. The map on this page gives the wrong location. It is looks down on the beach. Two negatives: the local nightclub down the street played pounding music until 3am and the little window units would not cool the room well. there were large gaps where air moves out and this is winter time in Brazil. The only other hotel we saw was the Sparta in the middle of the city. There are a number of small nice places but no one lists them as hotels.
