“Very nice hotel”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This hotel is in a beautiful setting a short walk from the main town (although if you have your bags make sure you call them so they can pick you up by boat). The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The breakfasts were really good, as were the rooms. We had a slight issue with our bedding being a bit damp when we arrived (it had been raining for a number of days before we arrived). We mentioned it to the staff and they sorted it out straight away. The only other downside is the wifi is pretty limited but I think that is the same across the whole island. I would highly recommend the hotel and island as a whole.

We loved our stay at Sagu Mini Resort. The rooms are very nicely decorated, all with a sea view. The hotel is located in the jungle, just above the sea, 10 minutes walk away from Abraao village. It's perfect to relax, enjoy the view, go for a walk on the island or go for dinner in the village.
The restaurant serves delicious italian food.

We were there with our baby, however I would definitely recommend this place for couples lookinf gor a romantic getaway.

Long overdue. This review. Vacationing to Sagu Mini Resort has been one of a kind. Extremely relaxed, no rush - or hustle-bustle of the city. Close to the main pier and yet not so close. Having breakfast, by yourselves (Off-season) was as pretty as it gets. Perfect way to unwind for the day (which in any case wasn't wound terribly) by the azure waters, with light music hitting you, and some hospitable gestures by Jean-Louis, who listened to us as much as he spoke, was exactly what we had needed. The breakfast was a bit unsatisfying, but I wouldn't blame it on them as there are very few Indians and vegetarians who frequent the resort & so the little that they could to solve our predicament was appreciable. They were nice enough to have upgraded our room, with all the rustic charm. Also, of note is the medieval-styled bidet in the washroom.

Room Tip: Go for the one with the largist balcony, view of the sea and the hammock.

We loved our stay of 3 nights at Sagu. Beautifully situated away from noise and crowds, in tropical jungle with small, quiet beach mere steps away. Private boat collected us from main pier in Abraao. Jean-Louis at front desk was endlessly helpful and cheerful, very welcoming and had great recommendations. Our room was clean and cool, with good hot water in shower and private veranda with hammock. Bliss! Breakfast was varied and fresh with homemade breads, tropical fruit, yoghurts, etc. Easy walk into Abraao village along well-used pathway (10 minutes). We had a small torch attached to our room key for doing the walk at night - felt safe and easily did walk with 2 small kids. Watch for sea turtle who comes daily to the small pier in front of hotel! Will be back at Sagu again and again!

Family of 5 just got back from 2 weeks in Brazil. the highlight of which was 4 nights on Ilha Grande. It is a paradise island and Sagu is the perfect place to stay. 9 rooms, each with plenty of balcony space and hammocks outside and the best showers in Brazil ! Luggage picked up by the hotel boat and taken to the private jetty - perfect for sunbathing or jumping from into the beautiful warm and clear sea. Great simple breakfast available and reasonable evening meals ...alternatively a 10 min walk across white beaches into Abrou where there are plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from. We loved it so much that we recommended it to my brother in law and his family who have just also gone there and sent back a text saying "Sagu ...WOW !" . Particular call out for Jean Louis and the staff who couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming.

We booked this resort for a group of 20 people during a study-tour through Brazil. This facility is really nice and makes you feel like you are in paradise. Only draw-back is the power black-outs, this hostel does not have a back-up generator (some other places do).

Breakfast is excellent and the Sagu-Owned jetty allows for easy pick-up and drop-off.

Giving 5 stars on everything might seem overrated, but the 2 day stay I had at Sagu with my friends was beyond amazing. It was quiet, relaxing and rejuvenating. Staff were lovely, and the owner friendly. It is set in perfect walking distance from the main village. Totally worth the money for the beautiful rooms and location. Sagu is one of the reasons why Brazil is probably my favourite vacation so far.
