I recommend to walk through the jungle to go to Lopes Mendes.
We walked very fast and it took us 2hrs without stop,. Bring lots of water because it is soooo humid in the jungle you will sweat a lot.
Once you are at the 3rd beach ask at what time the ferry is leaving. Don't trust the taxi boat driver! we arrive at the 3rd beach at 3h30 pm and the ferry was leaving so we told ourselves we wont see Lopes Mendes, BUT the driver of the taxi boat told us to go to Lopes Mendes (10 min walking to it) and he would wait for us until 4:30, we were SOOO exciting! but we were back at 4:00 and nobody waited for us!! nobody was there.. and the dark comes early in October ...about 5:30 pm... without any water and food left.. all wet because of the sweat.... alone on a beach for the hole night.... finally someone was in a summer house with a satellite phone.. someone rescued us for 100 reals. but wathever the price we were happy to reach Abraoo at night!
What an Adventure!!

It is the kind of place that makes you feel grateful for everything you have. It's simplicity and complexity at the same... God's love out loud. And minimally spoiled by civilization. Definitely one of the most beautiful beaches on the planet.

Lovely long white sandy beach - wild and untouched, quite big waves and shade in the morning under the trees. 15 minute hike from where you are dropped off - flip-flops are fine though.

Very nice but not necessarily worth the hype - it took 3 hours for two young guys to trekking steep mountainous terrain to get to the beach. Arguably more idyllic beaches passed on the way with a bar.

I've been here dozens of times, to surf, camp, dive and relax. White sand, clean beach, awsome waves. I have truly no words to describe this heaven on earth. The hike is worth it, but bring some food and water. Find a quiet spot with a nice shade from the trees and relax!
