“Awesome time”

I read few comments here and it's kinda difficult to believe how bad their stay was. I stayed at Chale #6 and it was so good. First of all, the chale's really cute, enough space for 2 ppl, the bed's big enough for european people unlikely all other brazilian standard beds (although it wasn't very comfortable but good for those who has back problems). Breakfast is good too, everyday a different cake (but I felt a bit sad as they had manioc just for one day). They have a small swimming pool on the terrace which is good to chill out (as long as there are no kids). We got there about 11pm and the frontdesk lady had left our Chale key and names with the security guard and we could check in with no problems. There's a safe box in the room, you have to ask for the key at the reception and it's 10 BRL per stay. There is hot water in the shower you have to wait 1 minute or so to heat it up and open with the right register - there are two-, that's pretty simple. There's aircon and ceiling fan, no mosquitoes and a hammock to chill in frnot of the chale...
We went on Easter holiday so we expected a full pousada and it was but all worked out well. They gave us a chocolate box on Saturday because of Easter! aww
As said in other comments it's a bit of a walk from the main street, but there are probably 10 streets in total on Vila do Abraao and walking 2 minutes is far away? I don't know where these people have been... If I walk 20 minutes tops I get to know the whole Abraao area lol
Our boat was at 5pm and we checked out at 10am but we could hang out by the pool, kitchen area.. etc the asian (but portuguese speaker) frontdesk lady offered us a room to take a shower before leaving. I had high expectations for my stay here but it was beyond it. We're definitely coming back.

We stayed here as part of gap adventures and what a dive!!!! There were some nice open fresh smelling rooms that we were not a part of, instead they accommodated us in a small urine smelling dive of a room up the back of the property. When we complained about it we were told that this was the smell of the island as there is no sewerage system!!! The beds were ridiculously hard. Be prepared to pay for everything!!! Air conditioning and safety box came with a price, wifi only worked in dining room and even then you couldn't get on it!!! Breakfast was average. You need to open the windows to try and get rid of the stench and there are no fly screens on any windows and doors so be prepared to get eaten alive. Watch out for the owner, she's the cranky one on the front desk!!!! Despite all of this the staff are friendly and were happy to teach some lingo and even learnt a few Aussie words!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else if you can otherwise stay in an a frame bungalow!!!

After staying at another place, which did not have an electricity generator we ended up here in hope for a warm shower and some light. We stayed for 4 nights-

POS: the rooms are nice and clean, interior is modern and functionally. The hot shower is not quite as hot, but at least not col. As mentioned the place has a generator, i.e. you will have light, electricity, A/C and TV even though the rest of the village is in dark. Breakfast is ok. Internet is available but not reliable. The cottages are really cosy and the whole is literally in the rain forest with eatable fruits growing on almost every tree. They have a nice pool and a large BBQ area.

NEG: the Chinese lady at reception only speaks a few words of English and no spanish. This place is a little pricey (220 RAIS for a little cottage)

LOCATION: about 5 minutes to walk to the waterfront

First impressions are of a tropical paradise - A-frame bungalows in lush gardens. However, I didn't stay in one but in a shared room in the main block. These can best be described as spartan. A single dingy overhead light was too dim to read by. There was a ceiling fan with optional a/c. The bathroom was small and a bit grubby with no hot water. The worst aspect was the bedding - torn, tissue-paper thin sheets that were too small to even cover the mattress. The worst I have ever encountered. The staff were all friendly with the exception of the manager who was sullen and surly.

We stayed here as part of a G Adventure (GAP) tour on our journey from Rio to buenos aires. The accommodation is lovely and clean. I was very fortunate I was allocated a querky little cabin on my own which had lovely bathroom and safe and airconditioning.

The breakfast wasn't included in the price and to be honest I deemed it a little over priced for what it was, but others wouldn't so judge for yourself.

Its a 3/4 minute walk from the pier/beach but we had people from the accommodation come when our boat to the island arrived with a cart to take all our heavy bags.

Ilha Grande is a fantastic island and recommended to everyone. There are some lovely beaches (Lopez Mendez), hikes and day trips such as snorkelling that can be done and arranged by this accommodation.

There is a little swimming pool that looked fine but I didnt go in it. They can also, if there is enough interest, prepare a BBQ dinner for you all which cost us 35 Reias per person and was fantastic. Its some of the best steak I have had in the whole or South America and they just keep bringing pitcher after pitcher of caipirinhas over!

Recommend.

I bring all of my groups here and I say it's perfect for anyone. They have cabanas a beautiful garden, BBQ pit and a pool! The rooms are clean and there is free wifi. It's off the main road so it doesnt get too noisy. And the breakfast is amazing! They also serve cake, coffee and tea every afternoon for all the guests. Highly recommend staying here!

Room Tip: Stay in the cabanas.

Im not a picky person, but Im into having the basic things, and I think hot water it's important, must of all when the weather its not as warm as supposed to be on a beach area. I was a part of a tour of Gadventures, the Iguazu and beyond.
