We (3 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 5) had two rooms. Each room had a double bed and a single bed. The rooms were of good quality. The manager (Willie) was extremely helpful but not too in your face.
Buddha (the hotel’s chef) makes excellent caiprainas and home made pasta...the best pasta we have had anywhere in the world...highly recommended.
We also went out on a day trip with Jeronimo...snorkelling with turtles, sea kayaking and an hour trek through the jungle. This was fantastic and Jeronimo was a great guide:
• he held the hand of a 70 year old lady for the one hour hike and helped her over some rocks etc.
• He put our 5 year old in his kayak towed our 9 year old in his own kayak.
This day trip is highly recommended.

Room Tip: The rooms are right next to each other and are safe. Each room can hold 3 people (1 x double and 1...

TagoMago was a nice comfortable place to stay on the island, a little bit away from the hustle and bustle of the main town but short walking distance in. The accommodation was basic but clean and by island standards very comfortable.

The wifi hardly worked, so don't count on Internet access.

Highlight of the stay in this accommodation was the morning breakfasts, peace and quite and the friendly vibe from the guests staying and the owner. it was also great to hang around during the day on the sun deck.

Best advice for the island - a guy called Jeronimo runs small group tours of kayaking, snorkeling and boating - the day trip we had with him was spectacular - and was arranged via TagoMago.

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms, although all have a view

We had three nights in this little hotel and were most impressed.

It started well - we were met off the ferry by two porters who got our nine large suitcases to the hotel. The place is about 400m from the jetty, and 50m back from its beach entrance. There is a nice, but restricted, view from all the rooms.

We were greeted by our host, Ralph, who spoke excellent English (and a number of other languages) and was not timid in advising us about how to spend our time on the island.

The rooms are rather basic, and there is no hot water at the sink. However, with a little persuasion the shower was hot. Our room was clean, and the beds made up every day. (All the rooms are triples - if we had known that we could have booked three rooms instead of four.) Breakfast was simple - the only warm food was eggs - but it all tasted fresh, and there was plenty of it.

The best thing about the hotel was Ralph - his advice about where to go, and what to avoid, was most helpful. He cooked us dinner one evening, and all nine people enjoyed it - no mean achievement for a party travelling with picky teenagers...

The only grumble was the promised WiFi internet - it worked only very rarely, and very slowly then.

Tip: don't plan on spending much time in central Abrao - naff cafes, expensive trinkets, smelly dogs. We brought our hiking boots and beach towels and had a great time.

We arrived at Tagomago, originally planning to stay for two nights over the weekend. 8 nights later we had to force ourselves to leave! We stayed in one of the top rooms with a balcony and large hammock that overlooked the bay and village below. The rooms were kept really clean, the bed was incredible, and the bathroom was modern and spacious. Breakfast was served downstairs on the large deck overlooking the water, surrounded by trees. The owner Nikki was lovely, she spoke English so she was able to recommend lots of places to eat and day trips/things to do on the island. All of the staff were friendly and kind.
Highly recommended place to stay, quiet, and beautiful. About 5-10 minute walk to town, and staff will pick your luggage up from town and drop it down there when you leave.
Even if its raining, you can relax on your balcony, or downstairs area, there are lots of books, magazines, and boardgames to keep you
entertained.
Can't wait to go back again!

We stayed here for 5 nights at the end of 3 months travelling in Sth America and loved it! The rooms are clean, with air con, a fan and mossie nets. The balcony, with hammock & table and chairs, overlooks the ocean and is perfect to chill out on in the evening sun. The breakfast buffet was great...loads of fresh fruit, cereals, juices, ham, cheese, selection of breads, cake, tea, coffee. The staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 7 mins walk along the beach from the main shopping & restaurant strip - a distance which I imagine would be welcome in high season. Definitely reccommend!

Tagomago is a great place to stay. It is located in a small hill just a minute's walk from the beach, which gives it a very nice view of the bay of Abraao. It has great breakfast (included) with scrambled eggs, a lot of fruit, natural juices and home made jam. They even had whole grain bread (especially appreciated by a scandinavian that has been away from home for a year). The breakfast is served on a wooden platform in front of the pousada, with a nice view and morning sun. At night the area is turned into a restaurant with a swiss chef that makes very good food. The rooms are comfortable and modern, and they have a fridge with a mini bar with beer and water to affordable prices. Bathrooms are modern, and the rooms are very quiet. The staff is super friendly and communication worked ok although they did not speak much english. The path from the beach up to the pousada has stairs and is not made for wheels of any kind. We had only booked 3 nights at Tagomago, but booked another 4 nights after we arrived. You should be advised that the pousadas of Ilha Grande often holds a standard that is slightly lower than an average hotel. But I don't think Tagomago would disappoint you in any way.

My wife and I stayed two nights here at the end of March. We would recommend Tagomago to anyone who wants a quiet, charming place to stay, neither too close nor too far from town. The pousada has the feel of a bed and breakfast; the owners live in part of the building and are friendly and helpful. We got great recommendations from them on what to see and do.

A small porch and eating area are in the center of the building. The breakfast spread was one of the best we had on our 16 day trip, rivaling some of the better hotels in Rio. We also ate dinner there one night (available on request), and the food was unusual and excellent. Dinner is whatever food/catch happens to be available that day.

We stayed on the bottom floor, which shares a porch with one other room. Although our room was quiet and private, we would suggest staying in one of the two upstairs rooms if you have a choice -- they have a nicer view. Rooms are simple, but tidy and sufficient.
