Isn't it what they say when it comes to real estate? Location explains everything when it comes to this pousada and it is why, as many other people already noted, it is wildly overpriced. For the past four or five years, as I've been saying repeatedly in my reviews, prices have gone over the moon all over Brazil, particularly in the state of Rio de Janeiro. As a matter of fact, Financial Times has already listed the city of Rio among the 10 most expensive places in the world to set up a business. And one clear sign can be found here: rates of 400-500 american dollars for a very simple room not facing the (very beautiful) Geribá beach in Búzios. So why do we pay it? In my case, simple: Rio de Janeiro, where I live, is becoming unmanageable, overcrowded, with traffic jams that can last for hours. And, believe it or not, there aren't many beachside places you can escape to in the state of Rio. It's either Búzios or the Angra dos Reis/Ilha Grande region (which is more suited for those who have access to boats). And for my wife and I, this is a special place because we've been coming here since Búzios was no more than a couple of streets and there was no sign of these awful Brigitte Bardot statues that litter the place.
So every now and then, to avoid another scalding weekend in Rio and risk starring in a remake of Falling Down, we break the piggy bank, get in our car, face the terrible traffic jams (there is no way of escaping them unless you come on a weekday), and head here. Le Relais La Borie is the place we've been coming to lately because it is right on Geribá beach, which to me is Búzios most beautiful. Be aware that it is windy most days, but the very thin golden sand and the clean water make up for it.
The swimming pool area is excellent and the heated pool is perfect to digest the food and the booze at the end of the day. But the rooms are simple, and a pousada this expensive should definitely feature items like heated towel racks. And espressos should be standard offerings for breakfast. The restaurant here is probably good, but I never tried the evening menu as we normally head for the city centre. The poolside snacks, drinks and kids' dishes are excellent, though expensive. And, as it's been noted, there is no room service after 10 pm.

Room Tip: Choosing a beachfront room would be the obvious thing to do here, but it does not make any sense to stay in the room here. Unless it's raining or you've recently married, you should be out. So it's your choice to fork out the extra money for a beachfront room, as they're all the same inside.

I paid a daily rate of R$ 1.400 last year and expected a five star hotel. I arrived 1:30 am because the road from Rio to Buzios was jammed. There was no meal service available. The room is average and the bathroom very poor.

Location is good but that's something you can find elsewhere in Buzios, with better prices, service and accommodation.

Don't go there. If you have an option, anyone, choose it.

I am brazilian and went for a weekend in Buzios on an off season time. The hotel was empty and as a walk in I received a great rate for a connected two bedroom suit that comfortable accommodated 3 adults and a child. The hotel is well look after for brazilian standards and the location is priceless as you have private access to Geriba beach one of the nicest beaches in Buzios.
Very clean, modern and comfortable rooms with breathtaking views.
The heated pool is very relaxing after a day on the beach.
Breakfast was very good with quite a lot of options on the hot food. Lunch menu is very expensive comparing with the vast variety of options close by.
I would negotiate the price of your stay before going ahead with your reservation as I think that they have some flexibility if vacancy is available.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the beach as waking up with the sound of the ocean is priceless and they are bigger rooms too

I stayed here in the smallest room they offer which was still very comfortable for two people and it was clean. The property is well taken care of and I loved that they had two pools and direct beach access. The food was tasty(not amazing but good) and Nelson was an amazing bar tender/waiter for all my poolside needs.
I was very happy to stay and would recommend/return the next time i'm in buzios.
