“Quiet and very relaxing and charming atmosphere”
Reviewed August 9, 2010

Vila Pitanga is a small Pousada (up to 10 rooms) with a nice garden (including a small swimming pool) and nice lobby room. All furnitures have a particular nice style. The rooms are very nice too and from the terrace in front of the upstairs rooms you have a nice view lying in your hammock. The location is close to Ferradura beach (15 minutes) and about 15 minutes walk to the main centre of Buzios (including nice jogging possibilities). It is rather secure to walk back in the evening from the centre as the police station is just 400 meters from the Pousada.
The owner speaks English perfectly well. There is free wifi access although occasionally a bit slow. The great thing of this Pousada is the cosy atmosphere and the nice and extremely helpful stuff. In particular the owner (Denise) is such a nice and kind person who helps you in any aspect and also has time for a short chat. I stayed 26 days and felt really home there. To sum up this Pousada is a great value for money. It is really much better than all the Pousadas in the centre as we learnt from colleagues of our conference.
The rooms do have a minibar with soft drinks and beers and mineral water. Also there is a bar but that was closed, maybe in high season it is open.

Vila Pitanga offers an excellent value for money in my view. The rooms are kept simple but are of excellent quality (very good furniture in my view) and cleanlyness. The bed might be considered a bit hard, but that's exactly the way I like it. Warm water in the shower works always, even at night.
The staff is very nice and helpful. Denise was always happy to give good advice where to go for beaches or restaurants, she organized transports for us or makes local calls to get a pizza etc. She speaks excellent english which is very helpful when you only speak little portugese. Another thing I find particularly nice is that she is always there when you need her, but otherwise leaves you in peace.
The common area is nice and cosy, offering free internet access. This is a bit slow, but still much better than in the conference centre where we were during the day, so that is probably a generic feature in Buzios.
The location is a bit off the centre and the beaches, but occured to me as very safe even when walking home late at night (there is a police station nearby). Being a bit out of the way it is also pleasantly quiet, and if you have a car it is even more convenient, offering safe parking.
One thing that could be improved is availability of kitchen facilities. After breakfast (which is very delicious and is available form 8 to 11) there is no access to cutlery etc. Also there is a bar but that was closed, maybe in high season it is open.

We spent 6 days in Pousada Pitanga Buzios at the start of our trip to Brazil. It was a great place to unwind and the pousada is well located; close to the centre of town and within easy reach of the vans to all the main beaches.
Denise is a fantastic hostess, always on hand with great advice and local knowledge.
Breakfasts were great and the pousada was very good value.
We'd definitely recommend to all our friends.

Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and embraced by Denise, and felt the loving spirit of Brazil.
The sincere concern, care and follow through demonstrated by Denise and staff, touched me in a deep and unique way. In fact, our entire sojourn to Brazil was a revelation, dispelling myths and confirming sweet truths.

Comfortable rooms with AC+Ceiling fan and the coldest mini fridge I've ever utilized.
Our personal highpoint... BREAKFAST! Josie is an excellent cuisinier, you'll not find fluffier scrambled eggs & omelets on the planet.

Logistically perfect in every way- from the center of town to the most fab beaches, you just can't miss.

A Place Called Home? Absolutely.... and I'll be home soon Denise!!

My husband and I stayed here and had a wonderful time, despite the rain! Denise is a gracious and helpful host and really makes the place a cut above. Breakfast was generous and delicious, our room was clean and functional, and the whole place radiates tranquility. As others have mentioned, the pousada is centrally located between beaches and the town and is a comfortable walk from either. Denise arranged for us to rent a buggy and the price was quite reasonable for 24 hours. We used this to get around and see most of the beaches, as well as another section of Buzios that is otherwise too far to walk. All in all, a relaxing stay and we highly recommend Vila Pitanga!

Thank you Denise!

We spent four nights here in early July, and are still basking in the glow of our experience. Denise is a brilliant hostess who runs a great outfit. She' supplies you with a map on arrival and is incredibly knowledgeable about the area and will go out of her way to make sure you maximise the amount of time spent doing what you want. Breakfast was great every morning, rooms were spotless, all staff freindly and helpful. Her location is pretty much in the middle of the peninsula, very secure (not that this was EVER a concern) so a five-ten minute walk to the downtown, one way or beautiful beaches the other. This isn't 5 star accom, and doesn't pretend to be, it's just perfect for what it is.

Arrived after hectic week in Rio at family wedding, large party of 11, aged from teenagers to 70's. Loved the peaceful garden and relaxed atmosphere. Bedrooms were spacious and clean with lovely shower room - towels and linen changed regularly. Sittting area was comfortable for reading/daydreaming. Breakfast was lovely and was great to be able to get cup of tea ( hard to get in restaurants!) along with the fresh fruit and hot rolls . Our son was always in a hammock, loved them - so much so we brought one home with us! Denise was invaluable - always available and always super helpful, could organise anything you asked for ( doctor, fishing trips, car hire, airport transfers, restaurants, best beaches, local taxi's, laptop, etc). Kids said it was their best holiday ever- couldn't ask more than that!
