One word - breathtaking! My husband and I spent 5 days in Buzios on our honeymoon in late March. We read all the reviews, and thought, could this be more perfect?? When we got there, we realized that it WAS perfect. We got there late, and Susan and Matt were there waiting for us, with hors d'ouvres and smiles. From then on, it was perfection.
A gorgeous breakfast with amazing food- fresh fruit, granola, and yogurt, to eggs made to order. They have a special bread daily, as well as a different local juice every day. They catered to our every need, showing us the way to Buzios. With only 4 suites, it was very private. We had the choice of any pool we wanted at all times, and Matt and Susan would come by and deliver drinks or food - whatever we desired. We felt like we were home, but way more beautiful and impeccably clean. They rooms were always perfectly made up, and were cleaned several times a day.
Matt and Susan helped us out with food recommendations, and they made perfect choices every night. They called cabs for us, gave us directions, and always asked us about it the next day. It is important to note that while they were around to guide us when needed, when we wanted privacy, they made themselves scarce. By the end of the 5 days, we felt like family.
The entire trip was breathtaking, and we owe it all to Matt and Susan (and Barone). We can't wait to go back, and we miss them already!

Room Tip: All 4 rooms are gorgeous! Each one is better than the next!!

We stayed at Cachoeria Inn for 3 nights in March. The B&B has lovely views, creative energetic furnishings and quiet poolside hideaways. Matt and Susan were great hosts with lots of energy and helped with restaurant recommendations and transport details etc. The B&B is about a 20-25 mins walk from the main town and you need to get a taxi in the evenings for BR15, which Susan happily booked. We did feel that it was a little pricey compared to other B&B's at a similar level that we stayed in across Brazil. We were the only guests at the time so were fortunate to have a room upgrade. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed at the Cachoeira inn for the first part of our honeymoon in South America and have to say it was the highlight of it. It really was the perfect place to unwind and relax after the stress and excitement of the wedding. As soon as we arrived (which was quite late at night) Matt and Susan were the perfect hosts, they are so warm and friendly and made us feel so welcome right from the start and throughout our entire stay they couldn't do enough for us and helped make our trip so special. Plus they make a damn good caipirinha!!!

As far as the accommodation, the Cachoeira Inn is just amazing, the rooms are great, all the different waterfalls and secluded areas to relax in, its heaven on Earth. Whatever you want to do - relaxing by one of the many pools sipping a caipirinha or taking the kayaks across the lagoon or taking a trip to some of the amazing beaches Buzious has to offer.

Although Buzious is on the other side of the world from us we will definitely find an excuse to come back to this paradise!

Thanks so much Matt and Susan you helped to make our honeymoon perfect!

I was looking for a spot to get away and enjoy a really relaxing weekend with girlfriend. Upon finding Cacheira Inn, with perfect reviews and rooms going for less than other places were charging, I didn't hesitate and booked right then.

I read many of the reviews on TripAdvisor, and they really got me excited about the trip. Upon arriving at the Inn and spending our first afternoon/evening, I understood why everyone seemed to have enjoyed their stays so much, and so many good things to say about the little paradise that Matt and Susan have set up in Búzios.

The entire Inn and it's views are just gorgeous. There was obviously a lot of thought put into the construction and decoration, and it really pays off. There are numerous places to just hang around and just soak in the lovely sights.

Then there's the pools, and I can't conjure up the words to describe them. They each offer a different view and ambiance, and are all very private and relaxing. I don't think there's single spot I can recall as having enjoyed so much as the Grotto Lagoon. Just the perfect place to alternate between cooling in the pool, and laying on the deck next to it.

Matt and Susan are lovely hosts, who will do their absolute best to make you feel comfortable. You might not have all the service options you'll find at a larger hotel or resort, but on there are no rules. If you mention it, and they think they can somehow arrange the service/food you'd like, you got it.

Overall, I managed to enjoy one of the most relaxing weekends in my life at this lovely retreat.

I really, really wanted to be blown away by Cachoeira Inn. Alas...

- Room: the decoration was not to my taste, but I know this is too personal. The room I stayed in was all wood, very dark and had more of a mountain-city mood. There are no windows and no balcony, which adds to this - unless you want to open your door and be exposed to anyone who passes by or is hanging out at the pool. The amenities were also very bad and while they don't make or break a hotel, these small details are noticed when paying this kind of money.

- Breakfast: very simple and, again, no privacy: you share one table with all the guests. When I'm paying such a hefty price for a secluded inn I would expect more privacy - I don't really want to mingle with other guests, or I would book a hostel.

- Location: ok, I knew all about this beforehand, but you really have to drive/get a cab to go, well, anywhere. Lunch, dinner, sightseeing, other beaches.

- Beach: if you want to chill in the sand and go for a swim, forget it. The beach here is good for kayaking or snorkeling and you have to walk on stone to get to the water. If you just want to tan and go for the occasional swim, you'll have better luck at the pools - which are pretty small, so you can't really swim anyway.

- Hosts: I can't really say anything bad about Matt, but Susan - although helpul - can be a little too talkative and intrusive. Again, not something I'm looking for in a romantic / relaxing getaway.

To me, Cachoeira Inn is not worth it. There are much better options in Buzios for less.

Thank you for taking the time to express your personal experience at the Cachoeira Inn. It is with our Deepest and Sincere Apology that we did not reach your Expectations. We take great pride in taking the time to personally understanding each and every guest’s needs and doing everything we can to ensure they are exceeded. Our objective is to create an environment which makes our guests feel as if they were in home, but with the infrastructure of a private resort. Obviously there was a breakdown in communication, as we were completely and totally unaware of your discomfort in the environment we strive to impart.

To our future guests; we hope this candid review does not deter you from enjoying what 99% of our previous clients have experienced. As much as we would love to be a place for everyone, we know this is unrealistic and we kindly ask for you to please consider the following when making your decision.

- Should you desire to not share your breakfast with the other guests, let us know, and we will happily set you up in any other of our many dining areas. We want you to be comfortable!!

- If you are concerned about our location: It honestly could not be better. Within a 5 Minute Walk you have access to the prestigiously known public beach of Ferradura, which has 7 Restaurants for Lunch. Centro is a 15 minute walk where you have everything, Shops, Restaurants, Clubs, etc.

- Although we are not situated on a large sandy beach, you’ll quickly realize the privilege of not having swarms of people crowd the space in front of the hotel. Mother Nature has provided us with an incredible piece of geology, which exists nowhere else in the world.

- As far as us, as the hosts, we are truly sorry if our hospitality feels intrusive. Our greatest challenge and reward as Innkeeper’s, is to understand and accommodate the cultural and personal differences of our guests from around the World. Most of our Guests appreciate the congeniality and helpfulness. We strive to find the Happy medium for all. And again, our principal objectives at the Cachoeira Inn are PRIVACY and INTIMACY, which is what the Majority of our guests feel.

We ask of our repeat and future guests reading this response, to PLEASE DURING YOUR STAY, always let us know if you are uncomfortable in your Suite, or dining with others, or whatever it may be. This Guest never told us that they were feeling uncomfortable during their stay, so we had no way to correct it. You can be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that we would have done everything in our power to reach the Expectations that we are so well known for.

We here at the Cachoeira Inn will continue, as always, to strive to go above and beyond each and every one of your expectations to the Best possible way we can.

We look forward to seeing your smiling faces at the Cachoeira Inn and the opportunity for you to experience something truly unique.

Sincerely,
Matt and Susan Marshall

Rio is carnaval magic 24/7 and Buzios is its private getaway...and cachoeira inn is the jewel of Buzios! Susan & Matt make this magical waterfall paradise come to life and they make sure that your time is well spent while enjoying hospitality like few places can offer. Every detail is taken care of in the small and private resort. We had a great time in the pools and n the private ocean cove with turtles swimming below. When we ventured out of the resort we were led to the best beaches, and long walks on the peninsula. Cant wait to return!

What a great place. The Cachoeira Inn is an unbelievably beautiful pousada. So many waterfalls and pools. Just the sound of the water is relaxing. It only has 4 rooms so privacy is never a problem. Everything is perfect. There is no neglected maintenance at the inn or the grounds. The rooms are perfect. Big, comfortable beds. The web site has plenty of pictures and it really is that beautiful. But what really sets this posada apart from all others, and can’t be depicted on a web site, are the owners, Matt and Susan. You would be hard pressed to find more gracious hosts. All you have to do is ask and they will try to accommodate you. They are the friendliest couple. I’ve been to Buzios many times and even I learned new restaurants to try and new things to do. Every time I go to Buzios I try a different pousada but now that I have found Cachoeira Inn, I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else.
