Aguas do Iguacu Hotel Centro

My review of 4 stars is strictly due to location and price.

The hotel is basic. Rooms are very clean, and nicely sized. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was not good. With the windows open, there were lots of flies/bugs in the dining area which made it very uncomfortable to eat. The breakfast options were not great either.

This hotel's saving grace was its location and price. It is a block away from the bus terminal that goes to the Iguacu falls. Also, the free pick-up from the airport is VERY convenient and nice. The hotel is located about 20 min from the airport and about 40min to an hour from the falls. If you do not want to spend the cash to book a hotel near the falls, this hotel is a great plan B.

One thing to note: I found this hotel and the town to be very creepy. Stale white walls, empty hallways, dimly lit. The streets were empty and almost looked deserted. Perhaps, it was b/c we were there during low season??

Aguas provided what we needed during our recent trip to Iguazu Falls. Service was great and the room was clean. However, the halls were noisy at night and windows were drafty. Also, I would avoid the tour company in the lobby (Loumar), their prices for visits to Itaipu and the falls are ~50% above what you'll pay if you buy them on your own.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms next to central elevator/stairs

Good basic hotel in the center of Foz do Iguacu with a superb breakfast buffet. The buffet was probably better than some of the 5-star hotels I've stayed at - great variety of meats, cheeses, fruits, egg dishes, juices, breads, etc. There was a pool but we didn't make use of it. Very friendly front-desk staff and there seemed always to be at least one English-speaking person there.

I stayed here for 3 nights in May. The hotel looks more like a shop from the front, but is pretty huge on the inside, It is located in the heart of downtown close to restaurants, shops and most importantly the central bus stop This is the closest hotel to the bus station that has regular bus services to Foz and Itaipu dam for less than 3Reals as well as to Argentina.
The rooms are modern, clean and adequately furnished and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast had enough variety to choose from without getting bored after a couple of days.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I requested a change to another room from the ground floor and they complied.

Room Tip: Request a room on the higher floors. ground floor tends to be noisy since the rooms are located betw...

The hotel service was great (room service and front desk)

There are 2 highlights that were very important for my trip:

- Bus Terminal is located 2 blocks away , so we did everything with the city bus. (We went to the Falls, Itaipu and Ciudad Del Este with the bus, We could have used to go from/to the airport but our flights were late night)

- The Breakfest service was outstanding for a 3 star hotel, it was better then 5 star hotels that i've stayed before.

check in and check out took a little longer than usual but I guess it was because the hotel was fully booked.

But good value if you only need to do tours of the falls. The area itself doesn't have much around and you may struggle to find a decent place to eat.

Other downside was the amount of Mosquitos! We were expecting to get bitten by the falls but nothing! Within 5 minutes of being in the hotel lobby we were bitten from top to toe!

We were staying here for at least 3 nights so were delighted to find we had chosen a decent place to stay. Right from the start, with reception staff who spoke English, things were good. Taken to our room where the porter checked the TV to see if would allow changes to languages on the channels. It wouldn't, so we were whisked to another room which would. A/C, bedside lights, good bathroom. All up to a good standard. Very good breakfast buffet.
The front desk and the tour desk were always helpful - they even pointed out the Sebo Cultural, a bookshop where we swapped a couple of paperbacks. Lots of restaurants close by.
We stayed 3 days and saw the Falls from both sides, the Bird Park and the Dam. We did everything on our own using local buses, a bit of Spanish and very helpful Brazilian people.
