“Ideal for Iguazu Falls”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

A nice, basic hotel that has a great location and does the job you need! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and the two restaurants mean that you don’t have to go far for your evening meal (although you’d probably want to go out if staying for more than 2 nights). The tourism desk based at the hotel is very friendly and went out of their way to help us. Unfortunately, we had to visit the hospital during our visit and the tourist desk were great; they didn’t charge extra to take us to the Argentinian side of Iguazu Falls and join the tour a few hours late and the driver was very helpful in finding a chemist on the way back from the doctors. This isn’t a luxury hotel by any means, but it gives you everything you need for your visit to Iguazu, and it is mega cheap!

Very friendly and helpfull staff. Nice room. Swimmingpool. Very near to the birdpark and Iguazu waterfalls and there is a shuttle too. Near to airport, just 1.3 km, but even quiet. Very nice dinner at low price. There's a hotel travel agency in the hotel.

You don't have to stay in the town Foz du Iguacu. First, that town is very commercial and doesn't have much going on except restaurants. Second, the hotels in town are 20 minute cab ride from the falls.
POSITIVE- This hotel is closest to the airport (just 1 km out) and only 10 mins walk from the Bird Park and the falls! There is a local bus stop right outside the hotel if you dont want to walk.
For the price we paid this hotel surpassed exectations ($80/night including breakfast on hotels.com). Its a resort style setup. Its has spacious clean rooms, free wifi, huge open air lounging areas, an on-site bar and restaurant, 2 pools and a tropical garden. The restaurant serves buffet for dinner which is pretty good. If you are there for 1-2 nights you wouldnt get bored with the FOOD. We felt no need to take a cab to town. Most of the STAFF speaks English and is attentive.

NEGATIVE- The hotel needs a renovation and some character. It has full potential to be a tropical getaway resort but it falls short of that - lots of space in the hotel that is left undecorated and looks dull and boring. The rooms can also use a face lift.
This hotel was cheaper than most hotels in town. The distance from airport, attractions make it an even better deal.

The hotel has a free pick-up service from the IGU airport. I enjoyed the hotel itself, be sure to stay in the newer part of the hotel. What I didn't like is they know that there's no alternative to the hotel restaurant. We have paid the same price for the dinners as for the stay. There's a hotel travel agency which organises trips to both Brazilian and Argentinian falls. Useful if you want to see the Argentinian side, because there's no direct bus connection.

Room Tip: Rooms in the newer part of the hotel are more comfortable than the old ones.

The hotel is walking distance to the falls. If you are in Foz do Iguacu for short time just to visit the falls and don't want to pay much this hotel would be a good choice. Airport is just 1.3 km away from the hotel. Hotel has a airport pick up service. Just let them now with your flight number they will come and pick you up.
Hotel is quite dated and old. Rooms don't feel they are really clean but okay for one night stay as you will spend much of your day in the National Park. Breakfast is fair.
There is a bus stop where you can catch the bus both to the falls or city center in front of the hotel. Bus runs every 20-25 min. Allthough there is not much to do in the city center you still can visit there to have your dinner if you have some extra time.

Hotel tour agency tends to sell you tours. You don't need to buy a tour to visit the falls.
Argentinian side of the falls is bigger and needs more time. If you start your day early in the morning you can make both Brasilian and Argentinian side of the falls.
Go to the brasilian side first at 9 as soon as the park is opened spend 3 hours there than take the direct bus to Argentinian side ( Costs 30 Real =15 USD) of the falls. It runs every 2 hours starting from 10.00 a.m. Try to catch the bus at 12.00 you will be in National Park in the Argentinian side 13.00(12.00 Argentinian time) . Spend the rest of the day there and have the feeling you are right on the falls.
Prepare some Pesos if you tend to go to the Argentinian side as credit cards are not accepted for purchasing tickets there and it is hard to find a place to exchange money.

Room Tip: Try to get a room upstairs.

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and we really liked it here. The hotel is perfect located about one kilometre from the entrance of the national parc on the Brazilian side. There are busses going to the entrance but we preferred walking. It is just a 10minute walk. The hotel also offers shuttles to the Argentinian side so it was no problem to get there.
The hotel offers very good breakfast and dinner with different local foods. It also has a pool and a fitness room.
The rooms are basic, but very clean so there’s nothing you can complain about.

We stayed in the Harbor Hotel Colonial for 3 nights and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is close to the entrance of the national park. Our room was okay, but very basic.
Breakfast was very nice. The buffet in the evening was very good with local food. They have a shuttle service that drove us to the boarder.
