Owner description: Largest hydroelectric power plant in the world, Itaipu is the current world record holder in power generation and is considered one of the 7 wonders of modern engineering. Built on the Parana River, the seventh largest river in the world, between Brazil and Paraguay, it is 8 km wide, has a maximum height of 196 m and a lake of 1350 km². Itaipu enchants not only for the dimensions and technical aspects, but also for being a vanguard in sustainability and tourism, with several options of visits, from the classic Panoramic Tour and the award-winning Special Tour, that leads to the interior of the plant, to boat trips on the lake and night tours of the plant. Visiting Itaipu is to know, closely, what human capacity can accomplish.

The size and the engineering of the Itaipu Dam its unique. You will feel like a little insect before that great new marvel of the modern time! The tour is very good, with a guide who's speaks in english, spanish and portuguese. Its really worth!

Be sure to book online in advance for the special circuit, highly competitive. Went with my boyfriend and there was only space for him to do the tour that day, ans one space available for me the following day!

We had a great time in their special visit - the one which allows you to go inside the "plant" - and i would certainly recommend it. It might be a bit expensive, but there were a few of us and the guide - his name is Elmo - was very friendly and knew a lot! We took pics, learned, talked about the past and present situations between the two countries and would have stayed longer if we could have. A very nice afternoon! The presentation movie is in Portuguese and I not sure one can see it in English, but it is not the best part, so give it a try!

Very expensive non sense, unaccurate visit, a non intersting movie and nothing else for a crazy price (specially when you are not resident in the region). Unfriendly unefficient exploration. I do recommend to undergo the complication and visit (for free) the Paraguay side: free, friendly, efficient, including if you have time the option of a technical visit (by appointment at least a day in advance) to have a deep look to what Itaipù Dam REALLY means.
Brasilian side is definitely last time for me and my firends
