“Good hotel, nice stay !”
Reviewed January 24, 2009

I went to Foz in January 2009 and I must say that the place is very beatiful. I stayed five days at Taroba Express and it was a very good experience. The hotel is very clean and the room is comfortable. Good shower and nice mattress. The only problem is that the walls are too thin so you can listen to some noise coming from the next door room or even from the hallway.

When in Brazil, everyone says the Falls are a 'must see'. Having trusted Trip Advisor before, we saw the reviews on Taroba Express and booked our 2 nights there. The review we read said it was a great hotel - I don't share that enthusiasm unfortunately. The hotel is indeed clean and safe, but that is about as good as the praise gets. Its located close to the bus station and on a main bus route, making it noisy at all times of the day and night. It is also away from the part of town where the bars are - a 20 minute walk away. The rooms are small and the bathroom we had was in need of some attention to say the least.

In summary, I find it hard to recomment the Taroba....but, to be 100% fair we had just come from a 5 star Sao Paulo hotel and were going onto a beach front hotel in Rio - So, maybe we expected too much from a 3 star hotel aimed as an oasis for year long backpacker's

This is a great value hotel. No frills stay but has a few good places to eat nearby. For me it's location is great as it is near the pubic bus station to get transport to the Iguacu Falls, both on the Brazil side , and the bus to Argentina.

For price performace it cannot really be faulted as it was clean and comfortable. The only downside i found was the pool area was not great, but i was there for the falls not the pool.

  • Liked — It location to the public transport to the falls and the great value.
  • Disliked — basic

The room was nice and light and clean and although there was no nice view and the air con was a bit noisy we enjoyed our stay here. the staff were friendly and the food was really nice, we had breakfast and dinner here and it was really good. It was really good value for money. We would stay here again. Laura (UK).

This place is a pretty good deal if you plan on staying for only one or two nights as you basically get what you pay for. The rooms are very very small but they essentially have any small amenities you might need as well as free WiFi access.

My only complaint really would be the bugs/mosquitos found throughout the room (especially the bathroom). If they would just install screens on the windows, it wouldn't be a problem at all but if you go during their summer months, you get a bunch of moths and mosquitos coming in when there's steam from the shower.

We spent pretty much allllll day at the waterfalls (one side each day) so we were literally only there to shower and sleep. If you're not looking to spend much time in the room and basically need a place to call it a night after a long day at the falls, then I'd recommend.

  • Liked — This place is right across the street from a public bus that will take you to the falls for 3 reais (ask front desk)
  • Disliked — The mosquitos/bugs throughout the bathroom

I would have to say that this was one of the most dissapointing hotel stays of our trip in brazil. Whilst saying that I found it very difficult to find a better place to stay in Foz de Iguacu.

I found this hotel on tripadvisor & it was recommended by the travel book I was using. Firstly the booking through their website didn´t get through so needed to ring from airport on arrival, which worked out. In fact they gave us a cheaper rate than on their site, so that was ok. However the rooms were very basic with small uncomfortable beds, my daughter who joined us for this visit & has been staying in youth hostels commented that it was about the standard of most of the hostels they had used in brazil.

However, for the price we paid it was adequate. The breakfast was ok if you avoided certain things. The one advantage was their tour desk which arranged a very good & reasonable tour to the dam, the argentine falls & a ride on a boat into the falls. This was excellent.

I have been in this hotel from the October 19th to the October 23rd and I`ve liked very very much!!

It is like a three star hotel, very comfortable, brand new (everything: beds, air-conditioner, the room itself) and with a good breakfeast. Also, if want to, you can have dinner at the hotel for a nice price (like US$10 including beverages!)

Another important point: it is located by the side of the city´s bus terminal, so you can go anywhere in the city for less than US$2,00!! The hotel has a travel agency with packages and trips for a nice price too if you prefer more comfotable like myself!!
