“Costly, but you've come this far..”
Reviewed August 11, 2013

This is a five star hotel. With five star service and five star prices. And it is worth every penny.

The hotel is situated perfectly and affords amazing vistas of the falls cascading down the cliffs across the Argentine side of the river. As an added bonus, the falls can be enjoyed early in the morning and late at night before and after the national park is open to the public.

The rooms are very comfortable and there is a spa and outdoor pool available as well, which, while heated, is still pretty chilly.

The buffet breakfast is amazing and offers an enormous selection of items from Brazil and, of course, internationally.

I ate in the hotel's Itaipu restaurant, which was excellent and very reasonably priced for a 3 course dinner with wine (approximately £60/person).

A visit to the Argentine side of the falls was easily arranged through the on-site travel agent, who provided a car and driver for just over £100 for the day, and who helpfully took care if the border formalities in Brazil and Argentina.

If you've come this far to see the falls, then I thoroughly recommend going the whole hog and staying at Hotel Das Cataratas.

Excellent property. Rooms Breakfast and meals are all provided with a high taste. The pool was heated and very clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Completely 5 Star. at night the lights near the poolside make the whole setting appear very romantic.

Room Tip: chose the room facing the pool.

Stayed one night in Hotel Cataratas and we did not regret it (although the cost is pricey !). We got upgraded as we were told it was the low season then. The hotel is located right in the national park and hotel guest have auto access to the park after 6pm and before 9am. We did a morning walk to the Devil's throat early in the morning and manage to get pics with no extra people behind! Service provided by the hotel staff was very good. Our track shoes was thoroughly wet after the walk and the hotel was very kind to help us dry our shoes foc! The beds were very comfortable but some unknown reason, both of us did not manage to sleep well.

Well worth the (high) price. Excellent service, food (very expensive), room, etc. Most outstanding is the location -- it was well worth the price to have Iguassu Falls all to ourselves from 7 - 9 am and 5 - 7 pm after the national park is closed to see the absolutely beautiful Iguassu Falls. Definately wait to do great buffet breakfast (included in the room rate) until after you have taken the 1/2 mile trail to Devils Throat -- right out the front door -- in the morning. You avoid the throngs of people and see one of the greatest sights on the planet. Conceriege was very helpful with tours, boarding passes, etc. If you are ever going to splurge on a hotel, this is the one to do it with.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good; doesn't matter which room you have because you can walk out the front do...

If you are going tot he falls this is the place to stay. Only hotel in the park which means you have access to the views before and after the tourists.
Extremely knowledagble staff, many of which come from the town and have Wikipedic knowledge of the history, wifelife, what time and where to see different sights and animals.

One of the most helpful hotel I have ever stayed in.

Only downsides would be you need to eat in the hotel and limited food choice. We stayed in July during the coldest period since 1950 and the room heaters were struggling, but these low temperatures are rare.

This Hotel is beautiful, charming, and filled with details you dont see often. From the beautiful view of the Iguassu Falls to the facility itself nothing could have been better. Rooms were well done and elegant, Housekeeping by far the best i have experienced anywhere and the pool and tennis courts a great place to relax. Breakfast and Dinner were by far the best I have experienced anywhere and kudos to the chef for such variety and what we called "an explosion for flavor" in every dish. The Pastries and even the cheese were a step above anywhere else we have eaten in Brazil. We had a group of 12 teenagers and 5 chaperones and were treated like royalty the entire time. Thanks for such a great experience. Only wish they would have had a fire in the beautiful fireplace in the lobby area that is the only thing I think could have been better.

Room Tip: I dont think there is a bad location in the entire Hotel, just enjoy the beauty and service it is to...

The hotel has an amazing view, great location and the best service I've experienced so far ! My 3 year old kid even cried when we left, already missing everything...It's the only hotel inside the National Park of Cataratas. It's been part of the Orient Express Group since 2007 and they've done a great job on the lifting and training! I highly recommend it!
