We spent 3 nights here and had a wonderful time. However, due to flight times, on our first night we arrived at midnight, so only really had 2 full days/nights here. I found this time to be ample to experience Foz Do Iguazu and it was a shame that with such a late arrival we needed to book 3 nights rather than 2.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful, service is impeccable and staff speak excellent English. Everybody I came into contact with was polite, pleasant and friendly. It was everything I would expect from a 5* hotel. The location is outstanding and it was lovely walking down to the waterfalls before the park opens to the public. The hotel also runs a free shuttle service to take you to other parts of the park which was really useful.

Reading other reviews, people have complained about "hidden charges"; we found that we hadn't realised there was a 15% tax added to the cost of the room, so our bill was also more than we expected. I can't say I felt this was anything "deceitful" on the hotel's behalf, more just our general ignorance of Brazilian taxes.
Also, we booked airport transfers each way. Upon booking the return transfer, a lady (in the travel agency room where you book them) advised us to pay for our transfers there first, before checking out of the hotel, otherwise you are charged 15% tax at the reception desk. Helpful advice!

There was quite a lot of rain during our stay, so we didn't use the pool, although the pool area was absolutely lovely. We ate breakfast in the pool restaurant, which was very good. We also ate one evening meal there. There is a buffet style meal or you can have a la carte; we ordered sea bass from the a la carte menu and it was delicious. The second night, we ate in the bar area. This was fantastic for a relaxed, chilled out, light meal. You MUST sample the Brazilian grilled cheese; delicious! We would have liked to have eaten in the more formal restaurant, however it was closed whilst we were there, opening again on the night of our departure, so I was a little disappointed by that.

Finally, we had booked a package which included a massage at the spa. The spa was really excellent. The lady at reception was delightful, the masseuses were lovely and it was one of the best massages I've ever had.

Overall, an expensive luxury, but well worth it. This was the best hotel we stayed in during a 3 week trip to Brazil.

We stayed in this hotel for one night during our visit to Iguazu. To put things in perspective, this review has to be done in comparison with the Sheraton on the Argentinean side. Iguazu on the brazilian side is by all means smaller (20% of the total volume). It lacks the sweeping panoramic view from the Argentinian side, and for this reason, most one day trippers end up not seeing the Brazilian side. But based on our experience, we recommend that if you are not in a rush, you should really visit Brazilian side and stay in this hotel overnight.
At a slightly lower rate than the Sheraton (both are very pricey for the obvious reason that they are the only two hotel in the park next to the fall), this is a much better hotel per se. No it doesn't have the view in most of the rooms like the Sheraton, but the facilities in general are more than superior. It was built in a Portuguese Renascence style, large pool, several restaurants to choose from, two of which we tried and extremely pleased. The common room is nicely decorated, and the room is spacious and well equipped as well. If you cannot see the fall, all you need to do is to step out of the front door of the hotel, then viola, it is right in front of you. The best thing is that because the visitor number is far less on the Brazilian side, if you stay in the hotel and get up early before the park receives visitors, you literally have the fall all to yourself. It is an amazing and luxurious thing that you can appreciate such a wonder in silence and solitude, and for this reason, this remains the highlight of our iguazu experience

The Hotel das Cataratas is located within the Iguazu National Park. Walking paths around Iguazu Falls commence directly opposite the hotel entry giving you the opportunity to walk independently at your leisure - a huge bonus. Rooms are very large & comfortable with an equally roomy bathroom - wooden floors add the the charm. The lush grounds & gardens within the hotel complex gives a real resort feel - after a morning walk around the falls, the swimming pool is a welcome place to relax and cool off.
Buffet breakfast and dinner is fantastic with excellent selection of quality food.
Would recommend this hotel as 'The Place to Stay' when visiting Iguazu Falls.

A charming colonial style hotel, our pleasurable stay was augmented by a complimentary upgrade to a suite with a view of the Falls. The staff were attentive and friendly, the food of a high quality and the pool area and gardens impeccably delightful.

Some tips:
1. Don't worry about having a room with a view of the Falls. Although nice, the Falls are some distance away and not worth the premium.
2. If coming from Buenos Aires, it is easy to fly to Puerto Iguazu and then take a taxi at the airport across the border to Foz and the Hotel. We did this, and then flew on from Foz airport, thereby avoiding an international flight.
3. We stayed 3 days. This is a perfect length of time to allow for visiting the Falls, relaxing, swimming, and avoiding any rainfall.
4. Definitely make the trip to the Argentinian side as you really get to experience the Falls close up.

Room Tip: Don't worry about a room with a view of the Falls - a view of the gardens will be just as lovely...

The location is simply awesome: literally just a 100m from the waterfalls (which we could actually see from our suite). You can also have dinner or even just a drink at the end of the daylooking at the Cataratas just in front of you - it´s priceless. As a guest you can have the privilege to go to the Cataratas Park before or after the regular visitors get in - believe me, that´s a huge advantage, as the attraction are most of the time packed! The concierge recommended that we take in the sunset at the top of the hotel's bell tower: don’t miss, the view is amazing!! The building itself is beautiful inside and outside. The room is very comfortable and clean and amenities are what you'd expect from a 5 star hotel. The garden and pool area were very beautiful, there are nice trees and flowers. Very friendly staff and the front desk is professional and helpful. Excellent breakfast buffet. The 'A la carte' restaurant is always popular and would reccomend that a table be booked in advance of your travels. The alternative buffet restaurant was also execellent.

Room Tip: Take a 'falls facing' room

This hotel, quite luxurious, is on the Brazil side of the falls, and the only one in the National Park there. Our room was modest in size, but quite nicely furnished and very comfortable. Our "garden view" actually included a service building, which was a bit of a disappointment. Service at the hotel was excellent. There is a small, but functional fitness center. There is also an outdoor pool, which is wonderfully refreshing after a hot day at the falls or in the jungle. The food, both at the barbeque buffet and the a la carte restaurant is excellent, as is the very generous breakfast buffet. A spectacular view of the falls is just across the road in front of the hotel. Since the park is closed at night, the evening and early morning, you pretty much have the vista to yourself.

Room Tip: I think there are some rooms, on the upper story, in front of the hotel, with a falls view. Might b...

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in March. Although we cannot fault the staff who were efficient and friendly the standard of the rooms were very poor. We were first shown to a room which overlooked a generator so asked to move and were then shown to another room which we accepted even though we found that the shower did not work properly and neither did the hairdryer. You could not get two people in the bathroom at once it was so small. This was supposed to be a superior room but you could not swing a cat in it. The public areas of the hotel were lovely and it was great to be able to walk to the Brazilian sides of the falls but do not feel that the room was up to its 5 star reputation. They are definitely cashing in on the fact that they are the only hotel inside the National Park

Room Tip: Definitely book more than a superior room
