“Highly recommended!”

I stayed here twice and had a fantastic experience both times. Never before have I looked forward to going back to a hostel! The hostel is great, nice places to chill out and clean dorms. What really makes the place though is the staff who work there, particularly Nick who was so helpful throughout our stay. The vibe was great and everyone was very friendly, we didn't want to leave! We also had the pleasure of a delicious meal made by the chef Ed, despite requesting vegan food at short notice! I cannot recommend this hostel highly enough!

We stayed 6 nights at this hostel instead of the 3 we planned to spend there. We loved this chill out place where we met friendly people, owner and staff. As we were on budget we were camping in the small garden. We brought our tent and didn’t regret it! The tents that you could rent here stayed open during heavy rain and were wet and full of red mud inside. There was a shower and toilet to share at the back of the garden. Breakfast was included consisting of fresh mangos, sausages and fried eggs, bread with butter and marmalade, coffee or tea.
There’s a supermarket “Super Muffato” 5 minutes walk from the hostel.

We booked here as we heard such good reviews and we weren't disappointed. We offered to pay Nick more so we had our own private bathroom and he was so grateful. The hostel has a great atmosphere and decor.

Nick, the owner, and Eddy, the barman, are amazing - they go out of their way for you to have a great time. They are very attentive and speak excellent English (Nick is originally from the UK and Eddy has learnt whilst working here). Nick sat down with us and planned our time there, recommending what was the best way to see as much as possible - i've never received that service in all of the hostels and hotels i've ever stayed in!

It is in a really safe location, it is residential and i never had any problems walking around at night. There isnt many restrants nearby, but we found a nice one round the corner. Nick can recommend places to eat and even helped us order takeaways two of the nights!Nothing was too much trouble. The room is very secure, even with no lock, we left all our valuables there and didn't have to worry.

Room was very comfortable, clean and shower was always hot and powerful. Breakfast was great - overall extremely good value for money. They have their own laundry service which was good and free internet :) Swimming pool is being built, but Brazilians don't really do time! The bar area is fab, we spent all our evenings here, no reason to go anywhere else - the hammocks are so comfy and the drinks are cheap.

We spent 3 nights, 3 and a half days in total. When we arrived we visited the Itaipu Dam (it was raining and wanted to do something). We got a taxi there and back, really easy. Worth doing. We then spent one day on the Brazil side (really easy to do, bus stop 2 min walk, 500m down one road) and then the other on Argentina - we did the 'tour' through the hostel (not a tour as such, just a diver who drops you off and picks you up, taking you to different places but he went out of his way to exhange money for us etc) - highly recommend as for an extra 20R you get longer there and they sort out all the border crossings for you, plus the driver takes you to the triple frontier where the countries meet which i'd recommend but is more difficult doing it on your own.

I would highly recommend staying here when visiting Iguazu Falls - great all round! The staff and decor are one of a kind :)

Room Tip: We had the private room with private bathroom (next to van) it was very nice!

We stayed at Favela Chic hostel for 2 nights during our stay in Iguazu region. Hostel is situated in very good location- very close to the bus stop where you can get on the bus to Puerto Iguazu (Arg) or to the downtown. However, you don't need bus at all to go to the downtown, it's pretty close.
Hostel has very nice, cosmopolitan and friendly atmosphere, it's very well equiped and furnished in Favela style - everything is pretty simple, kitchen in exterior, simple toilets and bathrooms, no keys, no locks on the rooms, however, you feel absolutely safe being in the hostel. you can also use wifi internet connection for free.

I just want to warn you - although if you are travelling in pairs, do not take the double room (room has cca 5 beds) - as lot of people before mentioned, it's badly ventilated, everything is wet in the room, big humidity, big smell and i spent only necessary time in the room while sleeping.. owner should really fix this problem. Therefore i suggest to take either dorm room or sleeping in the tent on backyard ;)

To summarize that, despite the fact we slept in the humid room, i would recommend hostel for young, adventureous travellers who prefer friendly atmosphere before luxury.

Room Tip: do not take separate room, recommend dorm or tent

We stayed at the hostel for 3 nights on our visit. Staff were friendly and breakfast was great! Bathrooms definately need major attention as was really un hygienic :-(

We were lucky enough to have our own dorm room as there were 4 of us, the bigger dorm room was poorly ventilated from everyones wet clothes and shoes, it really stunk!!

Ok hostel in other respects but u do get what u pay for, search around.

We met some girls who couldn't get into Favela Chic so went up the road and for the same price, much cleaner local hotel with private bathroom! Do ya homework!!

Favela Chic hostel is pretty much as the name suggests. The vibe of the place, is as per all previous reviews....people from worldwide who are all chilled & like to share stories & space. The bar allows people to go through to the wee hours, if you think this might bother you, then this place may not be for you. We stayed in a private room which did not lock. The bathroom was cleaned each day, breakfast was yummy, & Ed the barman made extremely tasty caipirinhas & caipiroskas! Nick is really helpful & extremely patient dealing with so many people & their needs. Overall, it's a great place to stay if you like something a little different, & the tours organized to the Falls are worth every cent! Great budget accommodation in a tourist town!
