We stayed at the Ashland Lake Superior Lodge last weekend on a visit to the Ice Caves. It is conveniently located on the west side edge of town which is great if you are traveling to the Apostle Islands as it will cut down on travel time through the city. We had an awesome view of Lake Superior right out of our bedroom window. Our room was clean and featured Bath and Bodyworks bath care products. The beds were comfortable, and we did not suffer from springs poking us in the ribs like some other hotel mattresses. We did not request a poolside room, so we did have to walk outside to get to the pool and restaurant, but it was no more than a 15 second walk so it really is a non issue. The pool area is nice and the hot tub was nice after a long day at the caves.

Our breakfast experience was quite different than some other reviewers...Our breakfast was quite enjoyable and the restaurant was packed. The prices were quite good and the food was tasty. The one improvement could be that they need additional help for the breakfast rush, as there was only one waitress. We will be definitely staying here again when we bring the kayaks up this summer. The price was lower than other hotels in the area. Don't pass up on this gem.

For the price you can't beat the view. There are exterior rooms but I saw that online so I asked for a pool side room. As I look out the window I see the beautiful Lake Superior. As I walk out my door I'm in the pool area. Hot tub was amazing. Pool was very clean. Not a smell chlorine smell. Will be back again.

Half of this hotel does not have interior hallways connecting to the lobby/pool/café area. Fine in the summer, but in the dead of winter it is a cold walk to go swimming. No showers or changing rooms in the pool area. They didn't plow the lot very well after a foot of snow had been dumped in the area. People walking on the exterior walkways past your room in the morning was very noisy. On the plus side, the bathrooms were newly renovated while everything else had a woodsy lodge setting. And breakfast in the café was very good and reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the pool side.

Hotel was ok , despite reviews of no hot water and receptionists poor attire! I was pleasantly surprised until I ate at the garbage restaurant . This is out of town to the west and the food at this restaurant was terrible, New Year's Eve buffet was frozen veggies, fake potatoes, and the toughest prime rib I've ever had. The waitress never brought us out drinks until a supervisor reminded her then she spilled it on . Never again!

This lodge is out a town right on Lake Superior. The sunrise from our room was incredible as we watched waterfowl play in lake right outside our window. Very quiet lodge with swimming pool & hot tub. Breakfast is at cafe right on the grounds. The decor is Native American/Voyageur and charming. There is a great restaurant right next door, but it is closed on Mondays. This is definitely a place that we will stay at again!!! Good beds! And loved the Starbucks at the cafe in the morning!

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view of Lake Superior!

We stayed at this motel for a wedding on Oct 19th and I have to say I was disappointed with the overall experience. The girl at the front desk was in a worn out hooded sweatshirt and could have used a little more "professional" demeanor. The hallways were dirty and the room for the price we paid could have been cleaner. Particles in the bathtub, everything was dusty, security door latch was busted, etc.......Would think about taking the drive down the road and checking out other places first before booking this motel.

Stayed early Sept after the labor day weekend. Place was quiet. Room was clean with refrigerators, coffee maker, everything you could need. Shampoo/soap. Service could have been better for a weekend stay. It was sparse on the end of employees.
Coffee in the morning was good they serve Starbucks. No continental breakfast with your stay.
All in all it was okay.

Room Tip: upper level near the back.
