“Beautiful monument not a theater any more.”
Reviewed August 6, 2012

Beautiful theater, what a pity it is hardly ever used to stage events. I took my 13 year old half Brazilian daughter to see one of the few events that get staged. It turned out to be a series of rather poor school performances and most of the audience were parents. My daughter was so dissapointed she cried. A monument rather than a living thriving theatre. What a pitty!!!!!!!!

“One of the most beatiful Theaters ever built!!! Believe.”
Reviewed April 24, 2012

This Theater is the testimony of the wealth of hte Region from 1870 until the beginning of the 20th century due to the natural rubber production monopoly (latex mad form sap of the rubber tree "seringueira").
It was inspired in the Scalla Theater in Milan, Italy and was built in 1870, having an splendorous architecture, inside and outside. Its stage has received the greatest Artist's of its time, primarily european operas and divas, as well as musicians and orchestras.
Really worth visiting
