“Disappointing service”
Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

I went to the busier branch on Tiradentes square during a quiet time after the lunch rush was over. I'm not sure if the waitress was tired after lunch, but she was really disinterested. It felt as if we were bothering her when we placed our order. The food portions were very small and I was very disappointed with the chocolate brownie- not a brownie at all, dry sponge chocolate cake with pecan nuts inside and lots of chocolate sauce on top to try to disguise it. The last straw was that there was no form of soap or paper towel in the toilet.
The only reasons I'm giving them three stars instead of two, are the location, the wig I and the great cappuccino. Definitely don't go for a meal, rather limit it to a coffee or small snack.

“Chocolate breaktime”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

We had been walking up and down Ouro Preto for most of the day and ran into this place. Had the drink with chocolate gelato, creme de cacao, and chantilly cream. Yummy!! It was R$6,60. The natural breeze felt good. Service was adequate. Good place to take a break.

“Great Coffee and Sweets plus great WIFI”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

If you need to have some coffee, chocolate, or sweets Chocolates is great place to have coffee. There are other good coffee houses in Ouro Preto but here you can also catch up on your emails with their WIFI internet access. I highly recommend this place in the Praca Tiradentes.

“Great place for a snack or lunch”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

There are two of these restaurants in Ouro Preto - I had a small lunch at the quieter one in the Rua Conde de Bobadela. The waitress was real nice, the food was excellent for the price (not expensive) and the double expresso was excellent (I ended up buying a bag of coffee beans). In front, they had 2 chocolate fountains – dark (milk?) and white chocolate – they looked delicious. Definitely a good address near the center of town.

“Nice place, nice cafe”
Reviewed February 4, 2012

There are two different shops, one at Praca Tiradentes (always busy, full, noisy...) and one on the way to Rosario church (much quieter place). It's a cafe with a small chocolate factory shop. Ask for the traditional maracuja and laranja cakes from Minas Gerais. The petit gateau is fine too.
