“Can't wait to go back”

We had a wonderful experience at the Inn at Twin Linden. I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast as I typically make reservations at 4 or 5 star hotels exclusively. I did not know what to expect but had some hesitation about stepping outside of my comfort zone. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised!

Our hosts could not have been more professional, friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the surrounding area with tips from them about where to meet our needs and interests. Although they are fairly new to the bed and breakfast business, you would never know by the way that they addressed every need and provided us with all of the comforts of home.

The Palladian Suite was spectacular, extremely roomy, had a fantastic view and was very romantic. The pictures on their website do not do it justice. The breakfast was spectacular and left us wanting more even after we were very full from the fruit, coffee, cinnamon scones (which I highly recommend) and the stuffed french toast (another great treat).

We are already talking about when we will return! As a discerning customer (and a very picky guest) I must admit that I have only compliments regarding this visit at The Inn at Twin Linden.

  • Liked — The peacefulness of the surroundings and the proximity to activities of interest
  • Disliked — Climbing 2 flights of narrow stairs to get to our room. However, that is part of the charm :)

My husband and I, along with three other couples, stayed at the Twin Linden last weekend, 1/19/08 - 1/21/08.
I loved every minute of our stay, but I'm not sure what I liked best! Our room was great-- we had the Churchtown room. All eight of us had dinner at the Inn-- cooked by Sue which was fabulous. But best of all, we enjoyed Sue and Norm the owner innkeepers! They truly seemed to enjoy the hustle and bustle at the Inn and all of us came away thinking we can't wait to go back!
Some specifics: most rooms have fireplaces, canopy beds, jacuzzi tubs and are very charming! The rooms are spotless very very clean and all are a very nice size.
Downstairs there are lovely extras such as sodas, water, coffee, tea and snacks available at all times. There's sherry in the parlor and the Victorian Christmas tree is amazing but then there are two more in the dining room. that are lovely as well. Too bad they have to come down!
Breakfast is a fancy three course affair. NO Pop tarts here! For example, our breakfast one morning consisted of fresh squeezed orange juice, a poached stuffed pear AND a stuffed croissant french toast. And beside tasting good, the presentation is beautiful as well --not to mention the beautiful Wedgwood it is served on.
Dinner ( 5 courses) is offered on Saturday evening.)
Sue cooks and Norm serves. A perfect combo! Saturday night Sue cooked for 16 and the fillet Mignon was perfect as was the alternate choice seafood swerved in puff pastry everything.
Sue is also able to arrange private Amish Tours which are well worth the $20 per person. Sue can also arrange private dinners in an Amish home as well We did not do this but may consider it in the future..
I highly recommend this Bed and breakfast.

I recently experienced two very different, but excellent b and bs in the Lancaster area in a quest to de stress (See Apple Binn Inn review). The Inn at Twin Linden was an excellent, upscale facility with two absolutely wonderful hosts ,Sue and Norm. I was in the Cottage room, the smallest, but fine for a single traveller. The room had a great antique clawfoot tub. I looked at some of the other rooms- they were beautifully decorated and immaculate. The inn was gorgeous. Sherry and brandy were available in the living rooms. There was a fridge with sodas and water and snacks were available. Breakfast was true gourmet. Each room had their own table, but guests who wished still chatted with each other. The grounds were beautiful as well. WifI worked in the living room for me. There was a wedding on Sat which Norm told me about when I booked but parking was not a problem. The Inn is in Churchtown- northern Lancaster County- about 25 min. to Lancaster, but close to Ephrata (neat little town, and check out Donneckers for shopping). I loved both the Apple Bin and Inn at Twin Linden. The Apple Bin is more homey and low key, but super friendly and accessible and great for families. It is also in southern Lancaster County, so closer to Strasburg and Marietta and Columbia. The Inn is more upscale and elegant and probably better for a very intimate couples retreat. I would also recommend it for a girlfriends' retreat as well because of the size of the rooms. If staying at the Inn, consider eating at Mazzis in Leola and Green Hills Inn. I highly recommend the Inn. Both of these facilities are far superior to the motels I have stayed at in Lancaster over the yrs. I wish I had discovered them earlier.

My wife and I just spent Labor Day weekend at this very special
B&B. We had a great time. Sue and Norm made us feel so welcome and the food was so delicious. We live and work in NYC, so our two days at Twin Linden was extremely refreshing to say the least. True bliss! A remarkable place to visit.

The Inn at Twin Linden is a remarkable "little" B&B in Lancaster, PA that we were lucky to discover this past weekend.

The house is located on a "Main St" that runs through the tiny town of Churchtown and the setting is exactly what you could hope to expect on a visit to Amish country: green rolling hills, grazing cows, barns, silos, farmland, and country roads flanked by lots of cornfields.

Parking is down a gravel driveway that opens up to the back of the premises with views of corn and farmland.

Inside the B&B, Sue or Norm are there to check-in visitors and give them a short tour of the house before sending them off to visit interesting sites.

We stayed in the EastPort room, with views of Main Street and nearby church, private bathroom, and charming angled ceilings.

Downstairs, coffee, tea, and biscotti are available any time of day and eight elegant little tables are set at night for breakfast. (Eight tables for eight guest rooms)

The B&B's backyard garden, viewable from the breakfast tables, is immense, dotted with little benches and paths winding in and around the plant life. The garden statues are nestled amongst the plants and add some magic to the surroundings.

Further down, the property opens up to views of the surrounding neighbors large swaths of farmland.

The breakfast we had was four courses, delicious and artfully prepared, and not excessive in quantity. Among the best breakfasts we´ve had at a B&B.

We stayed in the luxurious Palladian Suite to celebrate our 11th anniversary. The view is spectacular overlooking the grounds and distant farm. Sue and Norm greeted us the moment we walked in and gave us a tour of the Inn. Norm then followed us to our car, helped us bring up our bags and showed us to our beautiful room. I felt like a princess for the evening!

Breakfast was wonderful with a capital "W." The fresh squeezed orange juice was a big hit with both of us and the conversation with Norm was delightful.

We will definitely be going back to celebrate again.

We were given a gift certificate for THE INN AT TWIN LINDEN - so we decided to go there for our 50th anniversary. SO GLAD WE DID!

Upon arriving we were greeted warmly by Norm and Sue, the gracious hosts of Twin Linden. They first showed us the downstairs of this restored 1800's inn with period furniture: there are several parlors, where you can relax, either alone or in a social atmosphere with other guests. We were shown a neatly stocked nook where everything was complimentary - beverages, snacks, goodies, even small trays for "take-outs",
Norm showed us to our room on the 2nd floor - wow! attractively decorated with a large canopy bed, piled high with pillows, fresh flowers, a fireplace, TV , VCR, and radio, and a comfortable sitting area with excellent lighting for reading.
Our adjoining bathroom was emmaculately clean with a whirlpool tub, (including 2 big thick white robes,) and a lovely package of Crabtree & Evelyn tolitries.

The gardens at Twin Linden invite you to stroll among the paths of a wide variety of flowers and plants, sit on a bench in an alcove and watch the birds, or gaze at the fertile Lancaster County Amish farms and fields. We were fascinated with a "Beech Tree," towering high with gnarled and twisted branches so heavy they bend to the ground and re-root themselves. A marvelous place for pictures.

After watching the sinking sun from a porch swing we returned to our room to find our bed turned down and liqueurs and Belgian chocolates at our bedside. The atmosphere nvited us to relax so we settled in and enjoyed a movie from the host's well-stocked downstairs library

Breakfast was something to remember! Sue cooked and Norm served us - with candlelight, fine china, silver, real napkins, soft music playing behind us ,and in front of us a lovely view of the gardens through the french doors. Breakfast began with fresh squeezed orange juice, coffe or tea; the next course brought a plate of fresh sliced fruit covered with raspberry sauce and fresh baked, light-as-a-feather warm apple pastries. Then the entree! thick sliced maple bacon and french toast smothered in fresh strawberries. It is indescribable - you have to taste it for yourself!

The Inn at Twin Linden has excellent accomodations, abundant amenities, friendly and gracious hosts, and outstanding food. - truly a place to relax and be renewed. We plan to return, perhaps for our 51st anniversary.
