Reviewed June 17, 2014

Hotels in Brasilia are usually bad, dirty and expensive. But not this one. If you don't need to be in the middle of the city, and especially if you're on vacation, this is the best hotel to stay in. Keep in mind, though, that you'll need a car or taxi to move around.

I stayed here for business and was very disappointed. For a hotel, rated #1 and considered a 5-star hotel, I had higher expectations. The carpet on our floor was stained and dirty, there are no clocks or irons in the hotel rooms, and most of the staff did not speak English. I'm not saying every hotel overseas should have English speaking staff or all the amenities. I've traveled extensively and have stayed everywhere: at hostels to 5-star hotels and the 5-star hotels are much better than this place. With the cons, I would expect this sort of thing from a lower ranking hotel, hostel or mom and pop shop but considering it's by the Presidential Palace, you'd think it would have more to offer. That being said, the staff were nice and we did the best we could.

It's also not located near any nightlife so if you want to go out to eat or have a night on the town you'll need to take a cab. The hotel has restaurants, which are fine, but if you like to eat where locals eat then be prepared to drive there.

I stayed here during the Easter weekend of 2014. A perfect weekend getaway if you live in Brasilia or any DF city. I would like to begin with the negative aspects. Checking in and Checking out is a real nightmare. Do plan to sped 1 hour each for check in and check out. The room service staff was still cleaning the room when we were about the enter the room. There was not set-top box for the TV and no remotes as well. The room service had to be called to bring and set it up. The food and bar service at the pool bar (Capitão Bar) is very slow. There are no umbrellas at the pool side table(which is supposed to have one). When requested for one, they cut a sorry figure saying that these umbrellas are not usable and are broken.

The hotel has a lot of positive side to it, which, makes me to recommend it to all. The room was clean and big with basic furniture and TV. The view from hotel room was one of the best things to go for this hotel. Staffs were friendly. Breakfast was sumptuous and had a good selection. They had a bath tub and it was great to have a relaxing hot dip in it. The pool is one of the reasons to select this hotel and it doesn't disappoint. Their dinner was reasonably priced and tasty. They also have a spa (decent menu and pricing) and a fitness center by the pool side. I strongly recommend this hotel to any traveller: solo, couple, business, friends or family trips. I will definitely spend another weekend with them soon.

We just left it today and hope the hotel takes the positive and negative comments in a constructive way. The very good: check in staff were courteous, spoke great English, other staff tried speaking English and did spoke enough to communicate. They gave welcome chocolate truffles, the room was well appointed and beds are very comfy. Bathroom and toiletries were nice. Breakfast was excellent, most days. Location: nice and secure, near the large city lake, near by to presidential residence. A bit apart from city itself but they do have a taxi station within the hotel. Gym is pretty good, pool is lakeside, nice gardens, they do have a spa that we didn't try, sauna and steam room (steam was broken for over 6 months, I was told...)
The not so good: toiletries were not refilled without request, low quality toilet paper, glass shower door slam loudly without noise/chock reducer, shower drain doesn't drain fast enough, no hot water in afternoons, diner buffet not tasty, maid walked into room/bath without proper knock/wait, some days maid service would take phone calls... Lastly, we booked a stay longer rate online in their hotel company itself. For my surprise, on checkout, they raised the charged rate, requiring phone calls and now a wait for a refund...
In any case, I liked the hotel with the above restrictions.

Let's start with the pluses, the lobby has quite interesting design. It is situated by the lake with gorgeous sunset view, the pool is very nice. I don't mind the distance to city center as I found less traffic in the morning to go the city center. The minuses unfortunately outweigh the pluses; if you are in Brasilia for business and would like to stay in this hotel, think again! The internet is practically non existent and everyday (I stayed for 4 nights) I heard guests complaining on the border of desperation and anger for the quality of internet connection and apparently no improvement during my stay. The room although is marked non smoking it has ashtray inside and I guess it is a versatile room and not a strictly non smoking room. Food is average at best, and there is only one restaurant or bar to be exact for dinner. The mattras is in need of upgrade

Overall, I find this to be a nice hotel when in Brasilia. The staff is very helpful, and the grounds are very nice, and great views. I am always there for work so don't get to take advantage of what looks to be a nice pool and other play things. Having said that, the decor is a bit tired. Rooms are large, but I personally find the beds to be a bit uncomfortable. Because it is so far from the rest of the city, you need to either travel or use the restaurant, which is just ok.

Enjoy the resort facilities in one of the best resorts in the region. The hotel is perfect. Good food, good services, good amenities. It may need some refurbishment, but overall, it is a great place to be.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake.
