This place was awesome! We took our 1.5 year old son here. It was perfect. I thought they wouldn't have anything to fit his age. He took an interest in almost all of it. Although he is too young to really understand any of it, it was a lot of fun for him to explore the different areas and run around. It's a place where you're little ones could get out of the stroller and go, go, go. I think it would be appropriate up to somewhere around the age of 10.
If you have a large family and like to go to other museums, it is worth getting the preferred membership for $135. You can use it at many places across the U.S. Milwaukee and Chicago, for those who are somewhat local.

We are regular visitors to the Building for Kids, and children's museums in the Midwest and are amazed with what a wonderful facility this is. It's nearly as large as the St. Paul, MN Children's museum and quite a bit bigger than the Milwaukee children's museum. On the first floor you will find a reading area, store, restaurant, hospital, and an an airplane. On the second floor you'll find an infant/toddler area, water-play area, fire truck, crane, balls and tubes, golf ball spirals and simulator, birthday rooms, a huge arts/crafts area, and an exhibit space that is currently housing a traveling Grossology exhibit (pretty cool for 5-10 year olds). The staff is very nice and the facility is generally in pretty good shape.

Took our young child there this past summer, she absolutely loved it. Great activities from a store, to baby nursery, farm, water activities, ball area, and much more. Children of any age would enjoy the place. Reasonably priced, nice staff. Mostly metered parking the area, kept having to go out and put more money in the meter so we could stay longer. Isnt highly advertised but a real hidden gem. Can't think of one bad thing to say about the place. Been to children's museums in much larger cities, this by far is the best we have ever been to.

This museum is huge! We took our children, ages 18 mo. and 3 yrs. in June 2008. We spent almost 3 hours and still did see all of the exhibits. They have a huge construction crane for picking up ball bearings with a magnet, an airplane, a fire engine, a whole room of water tables, a toddler playground, a mock town, and treehouse. There is probably much more that I cannot remember. Also, if you have a memebership to your local children's museum or science museum, you might be in-network and get free admission.
