This place claims to be a 5* hotel. It is a “tourist superior” at best.
I stayed one night for business. Check in was ok. The room was very large but not even 4* standard - bathroom was poorly designed, bed was not very comfortable, and it seemed worn out. It was clearly thought as a beach hotel room, not as a city hotel.
I asked for room service dinner and it was terrible – extremely salty and overcooked.
I had to checkout very early in the morning (5.30 am) and it was a slow process (painful at such an early hour).
In later trips I stayed in Gran Marquise hotel, which I found to be much better.

Stayed here for two days in a business trip. Location is good, right besides the Japanese Garden ("Jardim Japonês", a place most of the taxi drivers will know) and within walking distance to restaurants and to the Iracema's night market. By the way, I found such Japanese Garden a little awful, as it does not reflect a real Japanese spirit of simplicity - it is more like a Tropical Garden (with water falls!) as you may notice visiting the place.
The hotel itself is like a business hotel. Room is spacious but decoration is not interesting and there was a big dark stain on the floor, between bedroom and bathroom. For this pricepoint (I have paid the high range, probably due to the busy season), one would expect more from a hotel. Considering a cost benefit approach, it could be a four star if price was, let's say, USD80 less.
Breakfast is average, as you would find in an average business hotel.
As a final note, the main entrance to the hotel is through a very steep stair, in the corner of the block, demanding some attention (so, be careful to do not fall).

Really an excellent location, the Beira Mar promenade and the ocean are just across the street. The famous daily "feirinha" is on walk distance, just like the restaurants Coco Bambu and Ancora, Pizza House and 50 flavours ice parlor. Breakfast is very good, with a special reference to the diet products, neglected at other hotels and to the tapioca prepared "in loco". Also the lunch is self-service, an easier thing for guests with dietary restrictions. Cable TV with all sports channels also is great. The standard room is small, with one single chair for two persons and no armchair for reading a book. And be carefull if you need a printer, there is none for the guests, so I was no able to make my check-in. The pool also is like a small aquarium!

Room Tip: standard rooms have no balcony, but have window withocean view

Good hotel, very well located, large rooms (deluxe room) and confort bed. You have to ask to change room to have ocean view. Good breakfast and cable TV. It's not a luxury hotel, but a very good place to stay onvacations. Ask the employees to get some discount on atractions.

Room Tip: ask to change room to have ocean view

Good hotel, well located. We had a problem with our door lock and they changed us promplty, to a superior room. If you like to enjoy in hotel pools, this hotel is not for you. It has a very little pool. Breakfast was 'honest', with a highlight to the tapioca prepared with fresh ingredients
