It's a very good place to stay in Salvador, near Pelo, pretty and clean pousada, very kind manager and staff.

Stayed: January 2010, traveled as a couple

This is a beautiful pousada, right in the heart of the old city of Salvador. It was clean, comfortable and surprisingly quiet given the location. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was standard fare, and nice enough. Would recommend it to others.

This B&B is located in the historic centre of Salvador, but slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Pelourinho. My room looked over the sea, admittedly with the port in the way. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast in particular is fantastic, the best I had in Brazil.

Having said that, the rooms are a bit on the basic side, but are clean.

We had a nice room overlooking the bay and harbour incl. a romantic sundown from the nice balcony. Vila Carmo is ocated in walking distance from all attractions in Pelourinho.
Especially the Bahia breakfast is great.
Room is a little run-down and sanitary facilities are a bit smelly.
Enjoyed it anyhow.

This is a beautiful pousada in a great location. The staff are very friendly and helpful, they organised a trip to a candomblé ceremony at the last minute, and booked us tickets to a fantastic traditional Brazilian dance show (Balé Folclórico da Bahia at the Teatro Miguel Santana, highly recommended). They had lots of suggestions for us when we told them what we wanted to see, and told us the no-go areas of the city that were not so safe.

We stayed in room 4, which had comfortable beds, a good bathroom (plus a second private toilet outside the room), a reasonably-priced minibar and a lovely balcony with a hammock and a good view over the bay.

The location is ideal, at one end of the Pelourinho - close to all the major sights but quiet at night. Our room's location away from the street meant that even on one night when there was a major festival and the streets were very busy, the room stayed quiet and we could get a good night's sleep.

Breakfast was lovely, a wide selection of great home-made Bahian food and fresh fruit juices with a dining area on a balcony overlooking the bay.

All of this combined with a 10% discount for staying 4 nights, we thought was excellent value for money. We highly recommend this place!
