There were cockroaches in the room so we ran away in the middle of the night to another nearby hotel! The manager then offered us their largest room, which we refused. We still had to pay for one-third of our booking, which was equivalent to one night in our case.
The room had a run-down feel, with spider webs in areas where the cleaner forgot to look. Furniture was nice to look at because antique, but in my opinion more appropriate to a museum than a hotel bedroom. It felt a bit like the owners had cheaply furnished the pousada with second-hand beds and stuff. The rooms were dark.
However I liked the house itself, the fact that it looked like a very typical Salvador house, the original windows, the location.
There are plenty of pousadas in the same street, all built on the same model, all with the same views. Only prices and comfort differ. So if they don't solve their cockroach problem and don't improve their standard on cleanlyness, I would not recommend going there.

Dear client,
First, I would like to make clear that we definitly do not have any cockroach problem.
You saw 2 cockroaches in your room, which was a regrettable and very unpleasant situation, and we felt extremely sorry because of that.
However, it was a very isolated fact.
Of course, cleanliness is an essential matter for us. We do a specific treatment to clear of insects, in the full house, every 6 months.
Plus, we personnally check the cleaning of each room on daily basis.
As you only stayed a few hours in the pousada, you did not have the opportunity to observe that.
Once again, we would like to apologize for this regrettable accident, however, I think it is not fair to do this kind of assertion after spending just a few hours in our place.

When you left, you just paid the airport transfer we arranged for you as requested, and nothing more about the last two nights you decided to cancel.

We did the pousada's decoration, in a rustical style, taking care to stick to the colonial spirit of the building.
Each room has a theme.
We choosed the furniture in order to fit with the theme of each suite, creating, by this way, a different atmosphere.
It seems that you did not like the old-fashioned style of our pousada.
We are very sorry about that.

Regards,

Stéphane Ettore
Owner and General Manager

You feel like home in this warmfull pousada. Located in the heart of Pelourinho my best place in Salvador you can easily walk and visit churches, shops and restaurants.
The rooms are comfortable and well decorated and the breakfast is full of regional food. Delicious! And you can take it enjoying the wonderfull view of the sea. Can you imagine?

This is a family owned hidden gem in the heart of Pelourinho which is the perfect location...cobbled stone streets, colorful buildings, great restaurants, right down the street is the Pelourinho square which is the essence of Salvador in my opinion. It is the history and livelihood of the city and it is very safe. The hotel owners Stephane and Gerusa will be your best friends by the time that you leave as they provide excellent personalized service answering all of your questions and helping you to get around the city. The Pousada has spacious, comfortable, clean, classic Bahian rooms and it gives you the feeling of Salvador. Everything that you need is close by including laundry, ATM, restaurants, travel agents (use Alex across the street), shopping, high-speed internet in the lobby and across the street, etc. Eat the local delicacies for breakfast (included) while sitting on the balcony overlooking the ocean to start your day. The hotel owners speak Portuguese, French, English, Spanish, and some Italian. Enjoy! I am booking my trip for Carnaval 2010 asap and will return to the Pousada for sure!!!!!!

I was at this pousada for a few days and is excellent! decoration is amazing, the pousada is run by a dynamic couple highly professional and warm people(with a lot of useful information). The staff is friendly and very helpful. The pousada is very clean, safe and comfortable, the exact concept of a charming “pousada”.
The main feature is that they are on all the details, and this make you “feel at home”.
The decoration of the place is perfect and the location is ideal for being close to the Pelourinho, but in a calm & quiet place.
Another strength to mention of this place are the prices, very reasonable even for Latin American visitors.
I strongly recommend this pousada to anyone traveling through Salvador.

This place has an authentic feel with no sacrifice to comfort. Each room is decorated following a specific and appropriate theme (we stayed in Yemanja-amazing views of the Bay of all Saints from our private terrace). The staff is friendly and very helpful. The delicious homemade breakfast is served al fresco. The pousada is run by a dynamic couple who really makes sure you have a lovely stay. They were full of suggestions, when prompted, about everything from cultural outings to what our next destination in Brazil should be...Stephane, one half of the said couple, even welcomed us with free tickets to a nearby concert. I strongly recommend this pousada to anyone traveling through Salvador. And did I mention the prices are very reasonnable?
