Situated in the centre of the old town this is ideal for walking to all the local bars and restaurants.

It has a small bistro that we never used – other than for breakfast that was excellent.

Our bedroom was comfortable and had quite a large balcony.

There is a small pool and quite a large roof top area with a bar for sundowners.

Friendly staff were around all the time. Certainly somewhere I’d recommend any friend to stay.

Loved this little hotel and its very attentive staff. Even though our room was small it was perfect and had a balcony too. When Marcus at the front desk heard it was our anniversary, he surprised us with a chilled bottle of wine and tray of fruit. How more attentive and welcoming can you be? Also Francisco at the front desk was great. Both men had excellent English and were very helpful. Small pool and lovely bar on rooftop with great views. Breakfast was nice but same thing for 3 mornings was beginning to get a little old. A longer stay and the breakfast would get boring. But, service is great and food in the restaurant was very good. We loved the location as it was easy to walk to the very African folkloric show. Our private guide Carlos was terrific and very well traveled. He speaks 5 languages. On Sunday we spent the entire afternoon listening to music. Outdoor at the J&K Bar/Restaurant a local singer played guitar and sang lovely Brasilian songs accompanied by a drummer. Later, in the square across from our hotel we listened to a great samba group with Moises Rocha. What fun. All locals and a huge band playing for free. We love it!!

A gem in the heart of Salvador. Location is great, right in the center, staff very friendly and and attentive (one staff member ran through half the city to pick us up because there was a massive demonstration in town and the cab driver had no idea where he was going), rooms are spotless with a very personal touch. The breakfast is decent. The best: the roof top terace with a small pool and an amazing sunset, goes very well with a caipirinha.

The hotel has been beautifully restored and the rooms are large and well appointed. However a 'funny' odour lingered in the room. One review described it as musty; I am not sure whether it came from the sewage. Obviously the management was well aware of it as there was a room refreshener which went off automatically every so often - unfortunately it didn't help much.
The breakfast I can only describe as disastrous. We were just presented with a dish containing an enormous mountain of scrambled eggs and the most thickly sliced ham and cheese I have ever come across. I expect - in a hotel of this category - to be asked whether, how and how many eggs I would like. I must say that I felt aggressed. It was a kind of 'take and eat it attitude'. Same thing with the juice. I appreciate exotic juices at breakfast as this gives it a Brazilian feel, but the guests should at least be told what they are drinking and give them an option of something more traditional - like orange juice. The bread was stale and cut in 1x2cm slices. A basked ot assorted breads would have been more appropriate.
Equally disastrous was the bar. The tapas were so, but so tiny that we decided not to take the risk and eat out.
The hotel is beautiful, but it lacks spirit and it lacks the little things (see above) that could turn it into a grand hotel. Therefore I consider it overpriced. When a customer pays such a rate s/he expects that there is more love and care put into things - not just the decoration!

We thank you very much for your comments, but we feel sad that your stay wasn’t as good as expected. We agree that a good hotel experience can’t be resumed to a beautifully restored building and nice decoration. That’s why we personally invested a lot, with the deepest love and care, since we opened more than five years ago, to give this place a soul and a spirit, in particular through the service of our specially trained employees. We also agree with the title of your review: we are not a grand hotel, and in fact we never pretended to be. We are a small hotel with only 10 rooms and people expecting the service of a palace for third of the price (in Brazil…) are wrong. We are just a “hotel de charme” and, as such, we may consider that we achieved our goal when considering the kind feedback we received from most part of our guests.

People that checked on our web site will have noticed that our breakfast is a one-of-a-kind formula, with fresh bread and brioche basket, fresh fruit selection, scrambled eggs served with ham and cheese, fresh pastry, diary, and two fresh fruit juices, one which is the classic Brazilian mix of orange with acerola, known for being very rich in vitamins and antioxidant, and the other changing every day (pineapple, passion fruit, guava or mango). Considering the small size of our hotel, and the fact that we decided to give our guest a served breakfast available all day long, we obviously are not able to offer all the diversity and choice of a buffet that most hotel serve generally from 7:00 to 10:00 am only. We chose to give liberty of time to our guests, as we believe this is the most important when on holydays.
Again, hopefully, majority of them put our breakfast as one of the highlights of their stay, as well as the food we serve in our restaurant, including tapas. Like for the hotel, we must remind that we do not pretend to be a Michelin star restaurant, and for that reason, we used the name bistrot in the Brazilian writing: Pelô Bistrô. Our goal is just to offer a simple and tasty food mainly based on Bahia cooking and with small French and Asian touches.

It is true we have very nice reviews, and we are so grateful to all the guests that spontaneously gave us such a high ranking. This is very challenging for us and we work hard to meet our guests expectations. But, honestly, it’s a little bit ingenuous to believe that we can provide better service than established palaces with hundreds of employees and stratospheric rates. Yes we offer nice and comfortable accommodation, nice breakfast, nice restaurant, for rates adjusted to the hotel’s costs, but our guests should choose us primarily because of the special atmosphere we managed to create just in the middle of Pelourinho popular district.

We apologize for not being able to provide you with all the necessary explanation and assistance during your breakfast. This situation has been discussed with our team in order to better the communication with our guests in order to avoid any misunderstanding.
We hope that we’ll have the pleasure of your visit in the future again to make you enjoy your stay as deserved.

Really cool and well designed hotel right in the centre of the Pelourinho (old town). Great base to explore from.
The breakfast is SUBSTANTIAL and delicious, as is the food in the hotels restaurant, best place we ate in town.
Rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable (although the internet was a disaster when we stayed)!
Fantastic attentive service and great advice about what do and see in town.
All in all a cool, boutique hotel in a fantastic location with fantastic service.

Perfectly located to visit the Pelurinho, it has comfortable rooms in colonial style, very kind staff, a high quality breakfast and a very good restaurant. We had a great stay at Casa do Amarelindo in a city where you do feel safe everywhere but absolutely worth visiting.
We also had a tour of the Bahia organized by the hotel with a competent and willing guide.

Casa do amarelindo is a beautiful little boutique hotel in the middle of the historic district in Salvador. The owners made sure that our stay was comfortable, personalised and very relaxed. The rooms are extremely well appointed with very high standard furniture, beautiful wooden floors, high quality bathrooms and excellent bedding. Has a feel of a 5 star hotel. Housekeeping excellent - room was spotless every day. The restaurant features some of the tastiest food we have tried in brazil. Salvador has a number of interesting places to eat but frankly the food in the hotel restaurant was so good that we ended up eating there 3 times in the 5 days we stayed. The breakfast is superb, a set menu with delicious fresh juices and fruit. All in all I would 100% recommend this hotel.
