There's a couple that run this place, Xander and Diane. They greeted us at 1am when we arrived at the hotel after a long flight from Sao Paolo with a warm welcome but gave us our space as they could see we were very tired, helping us with the check-in, carrying our luggage etc. While this is not by any means a 5* hotel it certainly is a boutique hotel. There is eye catching art work every where you look, high ceilings with beams probably salvaged from a ship somewhere and a lovely breakfast area. The upstairs part of the hotel also has a breakout lounge where guests can chill out and watch the world go by.
The Hotel is extremely safe and in a safe area with locals going up and down the street regularly. It is a five minute walk from the Fort and ten minute walk from the town centre.
The hosts Diane and Xander are always willing to give their time to provide ideas as to what you could do around town and useful facts but of course this is no substitute for taking one's own initiative and exploring!
There ar eabout 15 different dishes to chose from for breakfast, three different types of breads, three different types of cakes, juices, cereals, jams, honey, milk, delicious brazilian coffee and a selection of meats and cheeses of course the poached eggs that Diane makes! :)
Good value for money, top notch location and if you're lucky they may even offer to take you to the airport on the day you leave!

I would stay there again if I went back to Salvador. Diana and Sandro took care of us very well and gave us good advice on where to go. Breakfasts are tasty, with fresh breads, juices and decent coffee and tea.

The location was very good for us during the carnival because it is not in the direct center of the action, which means good comfortable sleep on very healthy solid mattresses with fresh ironed sheets. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: I was in room 4. It was good.

Although we only spent 2 nights here, we were really impressed by the charm of the renovated old inn, the owners' hospitality, and the peaceful location of the pousada, even though it was a very short, safe walking distance from Pelhorinho. This is the area that you want to be in if you're planning a trip to Salvador!

Breakfast was terrific, as they prepared a complete spread of freshly made breads, freshly squeezed juices, and even scrambled eggs, just for us! Diana and Sandro were so helpful with telling us where we should go and do with our short amount of time. And when we had to get to the airport at a REALLY early time, they arranged transportation for us, which was a huge life saver, since we didn't want to deal with guessing if a cab would show up for us at 3:30am !! These two have spent many years in the hospitality industry in the USA, and really know how to make guests feel welcome and at home! Would definitely recommend this pousada!

We really enjoyed our stay here. Our room had two balconies and was gigantic. It felt like luxury after some hostels we stayed at. The owner is very kind and helpful. Good breakfast as well.

Room Tip: rooms on the upper floor are very unique and have great features like balconies, one is a loft.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights before moving on to Morro de Sao Paulo. It was really cute and charming, everything very colorful and nice decorated! They close during winter season, so we have been one of the first guests (and I guess we have been the only guests during our stay) when they opened up for spring. We had a really big room, with little decoration/furnishing in it, but it was totally enough for our city trip. Nice big and antique looking bed, big fridge with a lot of soft drinks provided, not that expensive. The only thing we had to get used to was the really tiny bathroom! I have never seen such a small basin in a hotel room, you couldn't wash your face without getting completely wet :-) It also was a little bit complicated to manage the shower to get warm water, but it was funny though! Our room was next to the common relaxing area and the common terrace, and as there haven't been any other guests we were able to use these for us :-)
Location is quite ok, not that nice directly near the hotel. But within walking distance to the old part of the city (around 15 min.), crossing some really nice houses and places.
The breakfast buffet was not that big, but very good and totally enough for our needs. They provided some fresh baked cakes, fresh fruits, coffee, buns, butter and marmelade and also some ham and cheese. We enjoyed the breakfast sitting outside in the backyard, very nice!
We definitely recommend this charming little hotel, you get everything you need for a really low price! But you have to watch out, they have some rooms without windows.

The pousada is conveniently located 10mn away from the Peloriho, the very center of Salvador and we always felt safe walking back walking late at night. The rooms are fairly decent although you should be avoiding the standard ones wich do not have any windows!! We stayed in a "superior" room which means on the 1st floor with a window (Be careful, one superior room has window opening INSIDE the building and they try to sell it to you as a room with window: I would advise to specify that you wnat a room with window opening outside (!!!). The rooms are big but decoration is minimal, wich is nice except lightning is also minimal, there are no furniture except the bed and a chair so you can't put your luggage anywhere else but on the floor and the fridge do not contain water.
Breakfeast is not amazing.
The welcoming and orientation was the most deceptive point: When we arrived, late at night, the host wasn't able to locate us on the map of the city, gave us a wrong direction for the center and has been very scary about not asking questions to people in the street, not coming back too late, which proved to be very excessive..

This pousada (http://www.colonialpousada.com/) was a charming place to rest your head after late nights in the Pelorinho. It's just a 15 minute walk to the heart of the Pelorinho. The road is well lit and we felt safe walking back late at night.

The room was spacious and clean. The sheets did smell a little mildewy but the humidity was high, so I wasn't too surprised. I also personally couldn't stand the smell of their soap, luckily I had brought a back up.

The breakfast was served on a back patio. Breakfast was a wonderful spread of cakes, breads, fruit, and juices. The ladies also specially prepared eggs if you would like along with ham and cheese.

The common areas throughout the pousada were brightly colored and comfortable. The front balcony offered a great view for watching people on their way into the Pelorinho.
