This was the first time I was in a Museum for a writer. Usually you may visit the house, or birthplace but a museum? Well, this is really different. Is really a museum where books, better say the novels are exposed, in form of posters with explanations. You will also find some pictures and remainings, but the way Amado´s stories are presented is very didactic and enjoyable. I came out from the museum looking forward to read all his books!

Jorge Amado was one of Brazil's most beloved writers. His house has been transformed into a museum.
If you like literature and have enjoyed Amado’s books, then take a look at the place.

There is a café on the ground-floor, its walls decorated with lots of images of his book covers, showing all the languages which his many many works have been translated into. On the upper floors, there are exhibits that tell you about his life, his books, and his characters. You can also find lots of details about his biodata and his likes.

Dona Flor and Her Two Husbands (set in Pelourinho), Gabriela, Clove and Cinnamon (the one I personally enjoyed the most), and other books are displayed in their original publications and covers.

Didn't know anything about the author before I went. Great overview of his life with small displays about his most important works and awards. In the center of town and worth a 30-45 min look. Displays are modern and in good condition.
