The attention to detail was unprecedendet in the decoration of the house and rooms. The wonderful wooden floors and the decor was wonderful, and having a stunning oceanview high above the harbor during breakfast was just lovely. Highly recommendably!

Arriving late at night after an intercontinental flight, we were so looking forward to this Pousada. Due to the great reviews and experiences from friends. But we were shown a room in the attic, with no view, smelly and hardly furnished. The 'bed' consisted of a hard wood plank with a very hard mattress on it. The 'shower' was more like a garden hose. We complained immediately, but there were no other rooms available. Since we had booked the room more than 6 months before, we wondered why we (probably) got the crappiest room in the place. The next morning the owner promised to get things fixed, but couldn't get us another room. The change: an even harder mattress for the coming night. She also claimed that all the beds in the hotel are like that (wooden plank with mattress). We were able to check this in another room and could see that this was simply a lie. We gave up and moved to another hotel the next day. Breakfast was good, staff was sweet. But that room was a nightmare.

Room Tip: If you do choose this Pousada, make sure your room has a bay view and is NOT in the attic. Check the bed and airco. But as soon as the place is fully booked, you risk ending up as we did. In a room that would suit a hostel, not an expensive Pousada.

What a little oasis! The pousada doesn't look like much from the outside: just wait until you go inside! If you prefer AC, make sure you request it (some rooms have AC, some don't). Breakfast is delicious! Rooms have a fridge.

The wifi is an issue: we had a room on the second floor and couldn't get a signal unless we went downstairs to the lobby.

My second visit to the Pousada. Last year, I came with a friend. This year I brought my sister and more friends. I love it here.
The pousada is in Santo Antonio - which is just off the Pelourinho - and that is a blessing. It is a quiet and peaceful retreat from the city. The views of the sea and the port are stunning. It is in walking distance of the heart of the most interesting part of the city in terms of arts, music and history. You must be careful out on the streets - especially in the older parts of the city at night. No expensive jewelry or expensive cameras. Don´t talk with strangers who try to engage you on the street.
The pousada is magical. The breakfast is fantastic. Everyone on the staff is super sweet and friendly. Every time I leave I am sad - and think of returning.

Room Tip: The rooms with balconies are the most fun -but all of the rooms are charming!
