Mercure Salvador Rio Vermelho

I had a great stay In Salvador made even better by the location and standard of Mercure Salvador Rio Vermelho. Greeted at the door by security and porters, then shown to reception (that is on floor C) where check in is nice and quick although could have done with a quick briefing about the breakfast (as i had booked including breakfast and forgotten so purchased again via room service my fault not theirs). English speaking staff made everything much easier. The hotel is surrounded by great bars and restaurants close by. Spent the following day (labour day) at the beach with the rest of Salvador as I guess its the thing to do on a public holiday and then hit the amazing pool could not have asked for more. I would definitely stay here again.
One down note was the bathroom could do with some exit mould in the shower....

I upgraded to a superior and had a very clean and spacious room on the 5th floor looking directly at the ocean. The pool was lovely and the gym facilities spacious and well set out. I ate once in the restaurant for supper - a very pleasant buffet but there are so many, many places to eat moments away, it's a shame to stay in the hotel and not explore the tasty delights this part of Salvador has to offer. I found the staff very helpful and despite me speaking no Portuguese they were all very patient with me. I recommend this hotel - the wifi is excellent too!

Room Tip: pay the extra (it's really not that much) and upgrade to the amazing sea views

The rooms are smaller but adequate, the staff is friendly and helpful but speak little English and the restaurant is average. That being said the location, pool and beach make this a good alternative to stay in Salvador. You aren't far from some good restaurants and just a short cab ride away from the old city.

Room Tip: Ask for Oceanside rooms.

Excellent option in Salvador, near beach and interesting areas. Little beach almost private a little walk away. Good staff and friendly reception. I didn't like the food (sandwich and salad ) from room service. Better eat anywhere else.

After many years of problems staying at the Pestana in Salvador, I decided to follow a friend's advice and stayed at the Mercure in Rio Vermelho Salvador, Bahia this past March.

This a three-star hotel with very good service. These were the highlights of my stay.

1. Free, easy to connect and FAST Wi-Fi.
2. Iron and ironing board in the room
3. Complimentary coffee and tea in the room
4. Lovely pool
5. Ocean view room, a bit small, but with new furniture, "clean" decor and lots of TV channels
6. Friendly staff
Buffet breakfast was OK, nothing to rave about.

I highly recommend this hotel

Visit Salvador almost 6/7 times a year . After looking for a good hotel not very far from the city downtown finally found this one . Modern . Got a very comfortable room at the 7 th floor with an excellent sea view . Good breakfast of course not as good as brazilian breakfast used to be . Good service . Quiet area. The best not tourists.

Room Tip: Last floor preferable

I arrived at the hotel near death's door. My ear had busted on the airplane and I was in tremendous pain. The hotel jumped into action to help make my stay comfortable. They arranged for me to see an excellent ENT that spoke perfect English. They helped me in all my arrangements with the doctors and hospital.

I was supposed to stay for 3 days but extended to 8 due to doctor's orders not to fly. The hotel accommodated all my requests. As I was unable to leave the hotel for the first 3 days I had amble opportunity to order room service. It was excellent and always served with a friendly face.

The front desk staff is wonderful and very helpful and went over and above what they did for me. The room was comfortable and the view of the ocean was great.

There were several restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and I had the chance to try each of them over the week. I had not been to Salvador in years and I was lucky to pick this hotel on this stay. I could not have asked for a nicer stay, better staff or better experience. The entire staff and management is to be commended for helping me turn a very hard situation into a very pleasant experience. Salvador was a breath of fresh air but the hotel made this stay enjoyable and gave me good memories that will last a lifetime.
