“Really rude staff”
Reviewed February 23, 2012

This place was average. Great location. The private room was ok and did the job however you were overlooked by other windows so you would have to shut the curtains to get ready. Also the curtains were not big enough so they did not cover the whole window! Very annoying!

The main problem was the staff- they were so rude that we hated being in the hostel. The only nice people were the manager, the cleaners and kitchen staff and the door man. The staff at reception were the rudest people we had met our whole trip (we'd been travelling for 3 months!). They were always on the computer and didn't even lift their head to acknowledge you when you walked past. They were not helpful when you asked questions and made you feel as if you were bothering them. On many occasions if the phone rang when you were speaking to them, they would ignore you and take the telephone call!
We would not recommend this place to anyone travelling and looking for a friendly and fun hostel. There were no activities either and they were not helpful in telling us what was going on in the area. We found out the local activities by talking to locals and using the internet.
Don't go here, there are nicer friendly and more helpful hostels next door!!

I went to Salvador last week and in the search for a hostel, I kept one thing in my mind : Salvador's transportation system is awful, so I must be next to the most important places. So I begun to search for hostels in Barra. The area near the Pelourinho is quite dangerous at night and near Rio Vermelho (the bohemian neighborhood) is too far away from everything else.

So I chose Barra and ended up finding this hostel. What a nice surprise! Fair priced, my double private en suite room was cool, clean and quite trendy. All the employees were extremely helpful and spoke English reasonably well with all the guest who needed. Breakfast was quite nice for a hostel, with two types of juice, tea, coffee, ham, cheese, bread, cake and 4 or 5 typical Brazilian fruits.

Just a walk away from the Farol, Cristo and Praia do Forte. There is a bus from the airport which drops you basically at the entrance of the street (R$3,00). And there's a market in front of the hostel. I'd definitely go back.

It's the best option of hostel in Salvador. It's in a good location, near the beach, supermarket, restaurants and bus stops. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are large, safe and well ventilated. The beds are very good.

I stayed there for the New Years with 3 friends. We booked in advance and when we got there they didn't have room for four people, but they placed us in a 6 bed dorm and we stayed only the four girls for the hole holliday. Staff is realy good.
The room was very clean, clean sheets and large bathroom. Shower was very good too. Working air conditioning (witch is essencial in brazilian summer). But we could see they have two parts: one is old in a office building, with small bathrooms; the other is up the common part, with new rooms, but noisy.
Common part realy clean, good kitchen, 2 computers with free internet access. Breakfast basic (bread, fruits, cake.)
The location is very good: near the beach (one block walk), supermarket and bus stop in front of the hostel. You have to walk a little bit more or take a cab to go to the good restaurants.
For the price (about 25 dollars/ day) in a holliday it is a good hostal.

My experience here was mixed and a little strange. The reception/common area/kitchen was nice and cozy...well stocked kitchen but abit small. The lady that was working at reception was very nice and tried to be helpful. Maybe they've renovated since then but the rooms were in a building that was shared with business offices and seemed to be renovations going on. The room we stayed in was charmless and small...not horrible but we didn't like it. The only reason we stayed here is because the place next door was full as well as other pleases nearby.

Luckily we just stayed there for one night as the rooms are just basic ( white room with two beds). The bathroom was really old and would need a scrub. They do have windows but as they don´t close porperly the noise from the streets ( especially the buses) can be heard. The location is not the best as you have to walk at least 15minutes to the closest restaurants. And Salvador is not known for its safety!
The breakfast was ok. Brazilian style with fruits, coffee, tea, cake, toast,...

I thought that this was one of the best hostels I have traveled to in the world! There is free breakfast and its a great place to meet like minded travelers in Salvador. The location is nice because everything is walkable. It isnt on the beach but you can be there in less than 1 minute! There is a really cool game room and the faciites are clean and nice. If you go to Salvador, you have to stay here, dont waste your money on a hotel. I met some great friends there!
