“Great hotel in a great location”
Reviewed June 23, 2013 via mobile

Had a one night stay for a visit for the football. Helpful, English speaking, staff. Comfortable room, if a little noisy. Power cut during the day the only hiccup, but I would struggle to lay the blame for that on the hotel. Would recommend the place, and would certainly stay again on a return to Salvador.

One of our preferred hotels in Salvador at Class Adventure Travel for those who are in the search of a central located hotel for a fair price!
Bahiacafe hotel is located on Praca da Se one of the important squares in Pelourinho (Salvador’s historical center). The perfect location to explorer the higher parts of the city and good connections to Barra, Mercado Modelo and other lower parts of the city are close by. Just an Elevator ride away!
The staff is very friendly and all speak English, Spanish and Portuguese, and happy to answer all your questions.

The breakfast (Café da Manha in Portuguese) is very complete with good breads, eggs, cakes, many fruits and more! You will be able to find international and Brazilian options and besides that I shouldn’t forget to mention that the breakfast room has the perfect view over Praca da Se.

Room Tip: The rooms on the last floor have the best views! But know that you will have to walk up 3 levels wit...

We stayed here for almost three days. The location is perfect, right in the center, although the hotel itself does not have a parking, you can easily locate a parking garage very near to the hotel.
The room was very colorful & quite big. Also the breakfast is fine. The staff is really friendly and everyone talks English; really a plus :) We got some good restaurant tips from the staff.
The city is beautiful, however it was too bad that you have to be so careful on the streets all the time, you don't feel very safe outside the city streets.

We spent 3 weeks traveling in Brazil from south to north. This was one of my most favorite cities and hotel was the best hotel we stayed at. You MUST visit Salvador. It truly is different than any other city we visited. From the beaches, coporiea to the slave history and its culture. Everyone said to be careful there. More begging on the streets and what not. But it wasn't too bad....just ignore people who try and put necklaces and braceletts on you. Don't let them. They say its a gift...its not...they want money. The street food was amazing too!!!! The architecture in the old town amazing!!!! The hotel was perfect and really clean and eclectic style. Loved it!!!! Staff spoke english and super helpful. I'd come back to this hotel and Salvador any day.!!! One of the highlights of my whole trip in Brasil :)

Incorporating the best of Bahian color and eclectic art, the online description of this boutique hotel drew us in from a continent away. We were not disappointed. The colors inside and out are deep, bright and pastel, giving an unusual warmth to the myriad stairs and passageways in the place as you make your way around, while admiring the striking artwork in every nook and cranny. The hotel is not large by any means, but the staff invite you in with open arms and make you feel at home. The manager, an expat dutchman, speaks enough english to ease your checkin after the painfully slow bus ride in from the airport. The location, on Praça de Sé, at the edge of the Pelourinho, is very good indeed for exploring cidade alta. Rooms are comfortable, with doors that open onto an interesting lane. Café de manha is excellent, and includes eggs cooked as you like 'em, delicious french toasts, creme caramel cake, the usual fruits and so on. In the bar you can buy packages of Brazilian cigarillos for your friends back home. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Enjoy life in the Praça from the balcony if you manage to get a upper room facing the square.

This hotel is located in the western part of the city in historical center. There are two options to get there, either by taxi, which is more convenient or by bus, which is much cheaper (3R$ per person) but take more than an hour. Another disadvantage was that we had to wait approx. 30 minutes for a bus to come and there was no schedule. The bus is a regular city bus which stops every few minutes and takes other passangers. Therefore, it can be crowded throuugout the journey.

The hotel is in a restored colonial building and has its special atmosphere. The staff is helpful and eager to provide answers on all sorts of questions. One of the strenghts of Bahiacafe hotel is breakfast which is served in a spacey room with massive windows overlooking the square in front of the hotel. The food offered is fresh with different sort of delicacies (also sweet). You have a choice to order scramblled eggs, omlet and yoghurt.

In terms of the neighbourhood its very pictoresque. It is enough to spend there a full day or maximum two. Try to advoid walking there at night as you may be approached by someone having bad intentions. Usually they ask for money or want to sell sth. One guy even threatend us saying that if he had a knife we wowuld have to give him everything we have. Just try to be careful and use your common sense. Nevertheless it was worth to visit the historical center and to stay in Bahiacafe as it is much differrent to the other part of the city. We had an impression that the time stopped there long time ago.....
