Excellent hotel, really nice staff, wonderful spa. When staying in this hotel, even if you arent at a room that gives the spa for free, you should go and buy any massage/treatment in the spa and use it for a whole day. Its marvelous!!!! Private swimming pools at the spa, quiet and relaxing ambient... Everything u need for a relaxing and romantic trip. Would go back there definitely!!!

Stayed over New Year. Beatiful location on film set palm beach. Rooms very average, no better than 4 star and bathroom a bit shabby - rusty basin fitments- a balcony with two wicker chairs, no lounger and no table. Top price rooms (ours was middling) appeared to have bigger TVs and loungers but not much else. Staff friendly enough but little or no English other than at reception. Not inherently a problem but a bit tedious when you have to spend two minutes miming for a Coke Zero. Plenty of pool space but an early morning race for the loungers for dedicated sun worshippers.

Food (buffet) good. Spa enormous and beatifully furnished but badly maintained (plunge pool and wet sauna had not been working for some time). Cost is extra ($30/day/person). Local town is a small lively beach resort.

It advertises itself as an eco resort, but little extra activity laid on by the hotel. Excursions (we did rainforest and trip to Salavador) were good but at a price.

Overall left with the impression that this is very expensive for a relatively average beach resort hotel.

We love Brazil and were told by friends to go to Praia do Forte. The resort is located in a beautiful tropical garden facing the beach but the first impression when you get there is that it could be anywhere else in the tropical zone(Carribean,Mauritius..)It's not as amazing and surprising as Jericoacoara(North east of Brasil)where we stayed last year.Every part of the resort is clean and well maintained but you quickly feel trapped (comparison with club-med)especially because breakfast and dinner are included. So, if your intention is to mix up with the local population forget this place. The clients are by the way mostly portuguese, during european winter.
Food:
breakfast is great and you'll find everything you like from fresh juices, fruits, to multiple types of pastries, cakes and breads. Dinner is buffet type every night , very large but lacks of variety(no theme)and you kind of choose every day the same food which is rather good(Bahianese food, salads, fruits, meat, lots of vegetables)
Rooms:
we chose the standard for the lower price which do not reach the 5 stars at all. They are dark, old fashion with plain and ugly wooden furniture and i would rather give 3 stars. The wardrobe is in the bathroom. The sea view is very partial or non existing. They were lots of ants in the bathroom and the toilets were clogged the day of arrival.
Beach:
large but not wide and the water is not clear(weeds). A little disapointing. The main drawback is the fact that even at 0730 am all of the chairs and umbrellas facing the beach are "reserved" with towels or books and you don't see anyone occupying them until 10 or even 11 am. I don't understand why the manager of the hotel let that happen.
Resort Area:
everything you could find in a clubmed but without the usual noise. Bars, large swimming pools, restaurants, theatre for night shows, small orchestra every night at main restaurant. There is a lap swimming pool with a sign" for adults" but small kids are always there and nobody ask them to be quiet. Lots of animals around the place: little monkeys, iguanas, birds.
Sports: 4 tennis courts but only 2 with light, soccer field, very nice fitness room. The watersports are not complimentary. If your a sailing amateur there is not much wind.
Spa. relaxing area for a fee.
Maintenance:
the poorest part of the resort. The aircon didnt work in our room(fan only)and they told us every day it would be or had been repaired and it was very hard at night with 31°C. They should have told us it was not possible to fix and move us to another room, but kept on telling it would be repaired tomorrow. At the end of the stay they didnt even give us a discount but arranged an appointment with the manager(Mr Beltramea)a very professionnal listener who promised some compensation and was not here the day of departure when they offered 2 nights free on a next stay. Perfect for brazilians but for us who live in France(12000km) the probability to use this voucher is poor. The steam room in the spa was out of order the whole week we were there(high season) and i heard other clients tell the resort had downgraded a lot since it was sold to another company 2 years ago.
Service:
very polite and nice people always trying to do their best.
Excursions:
a few interesting ones around the place; mandatory if you want to really feel that you went to Brazil. The little town of Praia do Forte is colourful with shops and restaurants.

In conclusion, very relaxing place with nothing typical of Brazil, mostly frequented by portuguese families with young childrens. Expensive and certainly not worth the 5 stars especially in the standard rooms. The resort is apparently not anymore what it used to be.

The room (master blocks 15 and 16) was exactly what we expected: spacious, with a terrace, clean and with a front view of the ocean. From the room on the second floor you will have a better view, but without the comfort of leaving the room right to the beach as you have on the first floor.
The room service was very good as it was all the service there.
The food was excellent, great variety and quality that fully met our expectations and even surprised us.
The low key is the beach itself which is not as beautiful as I expected. There are a lot better beaches in Brazil. Another fact that bottered us there was the great amount of little kids that unfortunately are allowed in the restaurants at dinner time and breakfast. They don´t have a separate restaurant for them, which can be very annoying as when they start crying out loud in the table next to you.

My family and I recently stayed in this hotel. Initial reaction - very picturesque. However, we found the rooms to be out dated, A/C did not work well, we had more bugs in our hotel room than we did the previous week while staying in the Amazon, and the food was average at best. Rooms are not large, but if updated could be nice. The restaurants on the property do not have a great variety of food and is overally priced. In addition, any activity (outside of Tennis - which the courts are below average) has an extra cost. Pool side service is slow, not due to the waiters and waitresses as they are rushing about, but due to having 1 person trying to service an entire area.

People were friendly and the beach and nearby river was beautiful and the water was warm and clean. Town is cute, has lots of restaurants and shops, and the Sea Turtle perserve is in town as well - a bit touristy, but interesting.

The location of the hotel is great. The hotel is very beautiful. The employees has the typical bahia simpathy. The problem is that everything in the hotel is expensive, drinks, food, internet, spa. And the standard suite is ridiculous for the price you pay. I had to change to the master room.
