It looks like most of the reviews of this place or in the category love it or hate it. The category "hate it" seems to be about price and spiders or insects. Well, I moest definitely belong to the category "love it"! It's a beautiful spot with lovely cabins, clean, well taken care of, in a beautiful environment and attentive and caring staff. There are possibilities to do excursions, but also to sunbath and relax. I stayed there for 5 days, in which I may be an exception, and enjoyed every day. Originally I had planned a boat trip before I would be going to a conference. Unfortunately I couldn't get in touch with the agency that organized it due to personal circumstances of the owner of that agency. Therefore I changed my plans on a short notice and booked the Amazon lodge. By the time he could get in touch with me I was already staying in the lodge. Never regretted it!

Location: Its a boat ride across from the city of Manaus, so well located and close enough to the city that it doesn't feel too far. Its a nice large property spread over a well sized area, with their own piece of the amazon forest, which is a nice plus

Amenities: Cottages are independent standing small units with 1-2 rooms.
- Each room is about 15x12 so not too large with an attached small bath.
- No TVs or entertainment in the room
- Each room has an air-conditioner (note: this is a tropical place so you need an AC 12 months a year if you're used to cooler or temperate weather.
-Small beds. If you are 5'10 or more in height, your feet will stick out :-)
- Bathroom is small and clean. Note: They recommend dispensing toilet paper in bins and not in the toilet. This is a bit gross and uncomfortable and really wish they can figure this out. It is 2013 and there is technology to deal with used TP's. Ugh.
- Showers in the bathroom are ok, the water can be a bit cold though and there is not adequate heating to warm the water too much.
- Tap water is not safe to drink so please have plenty of bottled water to brush and stuff.

Common areas:
- Has a small bar and reception which looks out in the open. Nice area to meet and socialize
- Large covered dining hall where breakfast and meals are served. Nice and large.
- They could add a few fans in these areas to increase air circulation. It gets very warm and muggy during the afternoon

Food:
Nicely done. Enough choices for all buffets.
Vegetarian options include rice, pasta, beans, breads (and eggs unless you are vegan/allergic)

Forest hike:
These are a bit underwhelming
They have a nice private forest reserve and they do nice hikes but some of their guides are not the best. Either the guides are busy racing ahead without watching out for the tour group trying to keep up with them or somewhat rushed in their descriptions. They do a decent job, could be better and much more professional.

They have a small monkey forest reserve with about 2 dozen monkey's they take you out to show. Nice small place good for a few photos, not much more there.

This place has a lot of potential, they need to provide some board games, some more entertainment and options for guests who are staying there overnight for a few nights and don't have much to do after it turns dark - there is no TV or Internet connectivity in the rooms (and very low cell coverage on the property).

Providing some local books, entertainment, board games is a suggestion they should look into.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms closer to main property. There is no benefit to walking down deep into the property an...

The place is a good one we stayed there for almost 3 nights. The buffet is good. The tours get kind of little bored. Jungle walk is one of the best. Meeting of the rivers is a nice one but it is too tiring (8hrs in a boat). Other tours are not really great. Our guide Fransisco was a nice and funny guy. The hotel staff are nice and accommodating. We had to check out at noon but our flight was in the mid-night. The receptionist accommodated for our late check out and even arranged for our drop off (Boat and Car).

Our family stayed at the lodge for 3 nights as part of a 3 weeks tour of Brazil.
Good things first:
Easy access from Manaus.
Tour guides are knowledgeable.

The rest:
NOT an ECO lodge as its name leads you to believe. Lots of old concrete, needs a major renovation. no sign of recycling, trash spread out all over the "jungle".
Food is buffet style for all 3 meals. Not the best selections and all 3 days we were served the exactly same food.
Service, forget about. The employees of the hotel have no clue about hospitality. The owners of the hotel must not have been there in a long time, their employees seem to be so so disenchanted with their jobs, and have the worst attitude towards to hordes of tourists that come at them everyday.
Tours, as mentioned before the guides are great. Trouble is you will be touring with another 20+ people. Unless of course, you hire them privately and can get quoted the same price twice.
Wildlife... hum well, there are the monkeys that they keep near the hotel. And a crocodile who was born and raised in their water and gets feed by them daily.
This is the absolute opposite of a small, cosy hotel. If you like being elbowed by 200 starving tourist at the buffet table, like loads of company on your tours and think that the Amazon is part of the DisneyWorld park then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: A different hotel

An excellent introduction to the rainforest and wildlife of the Rio Negro with comfortable accommodation (air con is a little noisy), decent food and a well enough stocked bar. Anselmo, the guide was first class providing decent opportunities to spot local wildlife. Eating lunch with a toucanette sitting above in the branches of a tree was a treat.
The cabins are well appointed and clean - not that you would visit Amazonia to stay in your cabin!
Plentiful wildlife (birds, reptiles, amphibians and insects) in the grounds of the park which includes a white sand beach. As an entomologist it would have been possible to spend a month or two there without getting bored.
Highly recommended as a destination for those seeking to experience the rainforest and Rio Negro with some home comforts.

I stayed at the Ecopark Lodge in the Amazon forest for two nights as part of a tour group. The lodge is only about 20 kilometers from Manaus but it is completely in the forest and one does not realises there is a city not far away.
There is hot water and electricity. The GSM signal is available more or less everywhere.
The location is beautiful, with plants everywhere, a sandy beach and some natural pools.
Food is very good and of good quality, both for breakfast and for the other meals.
Accomodation is in small lodges that have three rooms each. The lodges are in teh forest. The path that brings there is well-lit. Rooms are clean and confortable. The only drawback is that the air-conditioning is noisy.
Activities (walk in the forest, caimans watching, piranha fishing, etc.) are good and well organsied. When on water, activities are done with small typical boats, very clean and pleasant.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: if you are scared about the idea of being in the forest, try to ask for a room in a lodge that it no...

We spent 4 days and 3 nights at the EcoPark Lodge and had a wonderful time. Rooms were clean and comfortable (but it would have been nice if they told us there were joined rooms since we had little ones). Loved the setting, food was plentiful and staff friendly and helpful and met other adventurous folks from around the world. We also had a fantastic guide that thoroughly engaged the kids every hour of the day. We saw dolphins, birds, monkeys, spiders, rivers, trees, cayman, piranha, and ate grubs... And almost no mosquitoes because of the acidity of the river. Just wonderful
