“Returning to my past!”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

I was born in Manaus but left at the age of 2. So my mother used to take me to Ponta Negra beach when we lived there, so I decided to go back after 50 years!

“Can't dip but not swim?”
Reviewed September 26, 2013

Beautiful beach and easy walk from Park Suites or Tropical Hotel. Swimming in "chocolate" water is most amazing, but the lifeguards will whistle you to stop. Apparently someone drowned there and the beach was closed for a while and this is the next step forward.

“Fun place to people watch at night”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

Went stopped by this Beach during the evening and was impressed with the cleanliness and organization of the food vendors. We felt safe with plenty of cops around. There are a lot of snacks vendors, but no actual restaurants so don't expect to have a nice dinner there. We stayed near the Teatro Amazonas and took the bus to the Beach for R$2.75 per person. The bus ride took about 45 minutes. We took the taxi back to the hotel, which costs about R$30, but was much faster and safer at night.

“A tropical river beach.”
Reviewed August 27, 2013

We had never been on a real river beach before ( only the mock ones in Europe with the imported sand) . The black tea tinted water on this river beach is most refreshing. The sand is clean. We arrived just at the apex of river flow so the beach was at its most narrow. However upon returning 2 weeks later we could see a definite widening as the river had started to recede.
Extensive renovation of walkways around and parallel to the beach will make the site that much better .
Plenty of refreshments available and better food kiosks on the promenade overlooking the beach.

“Outstaing view”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We spent the end of the afternoon at the Ponta Negra beach where the view is gorgeous. The water is beautifully dark and clean. My daughter had the best time and I had the best pictures.
