“One of the best places in Manaus”

Ideal to pass the day. The river beach is nice, people pratice sports there. Most important, do not be affraid of the coca-cola colar of the Rio Negro water: is natural, comes from a "tea effect" from the tree leaves that drop into the water and create this color.

“Manaus' meeting point for families, friends and couples”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2011

It was Manaus' meeting point for families and couples, but started to wear down. The Mayor has started a restoration and improvement process, and just inaugurated the first part: all of Manaus is back to the Ponta Negra beach, which is more of a boardwalk-style attraction, where people meet and enjoy the evening.

“A feeling of real life in Manaus”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 10, 2010

Ponta Negra is a popular ponit in Manaus: if you are staying for more than 1 day, you should certainly go there. Locals go for the beach; popular festivities usually take place there - there is traffic on weekend, so prefer going in the morning. Staff in the hotel advised me not to bath there because it is a little poluted. It seemed very poluted to me. They told me to, once there, get a boat and go to Praia da Lua (5 min; R$15) - that is clean and good for swimming. I didn´t go. Instead, I would ratter overnight at hotel Tropical Business (they don´t do day use) and spare a day on their marvelous swimming pool overlooking the beach. You can go to the beach for eating and drinking some caipirinha. Despite of the overal scene, the place we got ours seemed very clean (I asked to get into the kitchen so i could wash my hands).
We didn´t get sick in this trip :)
