“9 Island Tour-Waste of time & Money”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

The so called "9 Island Tour" which is mostly a time wasting exercise in the Mundau Lake is a total ‎waste of 150 reals for a couple for a 2-3 hour boat tour.‎

The Tour Boats from "Marazul Turismo" company are the responsible for all the 9 island tours and are ‎very badly organized and mostly drag out as much time doing nothing, since there is nothing to see or ‎do!!‎

At first there is an hour or so for lunch, then instead of preparing the boat before the people arrive, ‎only once you are standing in a long line, waiting to get on, do the staff get busy in organizing stuff. ‎After a very disorganized start, they head out to another restaurant and wait there another 10-15 ‎minutes for something to happen or someone to arrive, nobody informs you what is going on, but, all I ‎know is between a lousy lunch, queuing up, and getting 10 meters from the starting point, nearly 2 ‎hours were wasted even before the boat went off on the tour. Then the boat was hanging around ‎within a mile from the departure point for the next 2-3 hours, some unexciting scenery and one stop ‎at one tiny island with a swimming pool for kids mostly and then another stop at the mouth of the Lake ‎with the sea, you might see a few waves in opposite directions and then back to the base towards ‎sunset. What a bluff and uninspiring tour, nothing to see, and nothing to do, just watch the staff trying ‎to drag out as much time they can to justify a rip off fee of 75 reals per head, keep away from the ‎company and the 9 island tour, which is nothing but hot air.‎

“To see from a distance”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

First of all, it's not a lake, it's a lagoon. It communicates with the ocean and in hight tide the waters mix up, creating a very unique environment. Actually, the large amount of lagoons in the state area gave the state it's name: Alagoas. Now, Mundaú itself: the lagoon is surrounded by the poorest areas of Maceió, with all the problems that emerge there: garbage, pollution, prostitution, high criminality... you name it. The margins are taken by garbage dumpings, favelas and it really amazes me how it's not dead yet! The sun sets on the hills across Mundaú, paiting it golden. A very beutiful view. But that's it.
