Aparthotel Vucko
Ranked #2 of 18 Jahorina B&B and Inns
Reviewed July 5, 2013

Best choice on Jahorina. Staff is nice, food is great and it will gain some additional facilities, if I am not mistaking.
Recommended from my side.
Since this has to have 200 characters, I will add that there is a playground and day care for toddlers, professional and nice ski instructors, live music on weekends and overall very good atmosphere.

Room Tip: With a view to the slopes and mountain.

Aparthotel Vučko Jahorina definitely does not deserve to be a 5 star hotel. When you need an elevator it takes ages , the restaurant is too small, so during dinner it is very crowdly, and sometimes it's hard to find a free table, TV in the room are outdated, shower is too small for a normal showering, we had a problem with the electricity in the room who continually vanishing, and the card to open the rooms was not working. In the apartment there is a mini kitchen that you has no use, because you do not have kettle or cups to make at least coffee or tea. Children are running in the hallways without parental supervision and play with the elevators. There is no pool at the hotel. Wellness is too small and below average, to be paid extra. All of this would not be such a problem, but the reception staff is extremely unkind, unprofessional and below each level, especially in a 5 star hotel It would be advisable to take them to the West to see how it behaves toward the guest in the hotel 4 or 5 stars. Bypass in a large circle.

LOCATION: on the mountain of Jahorina, close to Bosnian capital Sarajevo. There are several hotels in the vicinity. Outside parking is spacious.
CHECK-IN: slow. My room was not ready on time, since the previous user hadn't freed the room, so I had to wait.
ROOMS: nice, spacious, like small apartments. There is a stove and a fridge in the room, also with a medium-sized flat-screen TV with a limited selection of domestic and some foreign TV-channels. The window doesn't have curtains, and I would preferred that it had. Bathroom is modern and spacious, but no bath tub, only a shower.
CLEANLINESS: quite good, I had nothing to complain about regarding cleanliness.
FOOD: excellent, tasty, domestic, fresh, nice choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is also nice-looking, not over-the-top, but quite OK. Staff at the restaurant are friendly, quiet, and polite.
CONFERENCE AREA: doesn't exist, actually. The cafe was temporarily converted into a conference room, but it would be better if there was a dedicated space for conferences.
SPA & WELLNESS: apparently exists within the hotel, prices are acceptable, but I hadn't tried it.

Room Tip: ask for a spacious room on the sunny side

I spent one night in this hotel and I find it very cosy and well furnished. It looks like real mountain hotel, all in wood from outside. It has comfortable and spacious rooms - apartments, studios (since our room has little kitchen - no dishes though, I understood that it is the case with all accommodation units). We had big terrace, but not all rooms have it. Reception is small, so as the bar at the entrance. Food was very good and even if the choice of dishes was not especially large, everithing was more than tastefull. I'm not sure if the restaurant is big enough when the season is on. Spa is not very big but it is great and has modern facilities. The most interesting for me was floating tub (the idea is to feel like you are floating in Dead Sea). Gym was basic. Staff was very kind and they try to help you all the time, but they could use more training since hotel's aim is to maintain high reputation. Location is great, next to ski trail and ski lift and opposite to Termag hotel. I was there in low season and you didn't have much to see from Jahorina but I believe there is a different story when winter season begins. Good place to visit while you are there is Sarajevo (around 30 km from there) and Pale (around 10 km).

We were looking for a room for one night in Jahorina and visited a few hotels to ask the price. Vucko offered a room for one night for 40e and we double checked it meant per room, not per person. (The girl at the desk didn't speak English quite well) We were really happy for the price and the quality of the hotel. The room was modern, there was a cable tv and free wifi.

There were not so many other customers in the hotel and the service in the bar was nice. The bartender chose a nice local white wine for us. The breakfast was also good.

We realized there were a misunderstanding about the price, when we were leaving. The price was for per person, not per room as we thought. The English speaking receptionist apologized and charged the room as per room. Overall the feeling about this hotel was very positive.

They are constructing (in summer 2012) extensions to old hotel and more parking places.

rooms ok, food ok, service is very basic
don't get your hopes to high about the spa area - it's very small and very basic.
very close to the skilift which is always welcome
if there is music in the lounge, you can hear it to the second floor.
too much kids around screaming without control (if parents can't control them, staff should notify their parents to calm them down...) an excuse "he's just a kid is not good enough in tourism - there are all types of tourists...
I wished I had booked in Termag like previous years (a street across) - they are a bit more expenceive, but I have a feeling I also got more for my money

The apartment was spacious, beautifully designed and furnished. Plenty of space for three adults and two children.
Food was very good (all three meals included in the price), but very local. As a result, there were a couple of occasions where our kids could not find anything that would satisfy their typically British palettes. That did not seem to present too big a problem, as we could always order a pizza or something from the bar menu for a few extra euros.
Staff were friendly, but customer service is still work in progress (not just in this hotel, but generally in the region), so if you see a grumpy face at the Reception, don't take it personally. We had to check out three days earlier than planned, as one of the children got temperature, and we were not charged anything for the cancellation!
The hotel has good facilities, wellness spa, kids' club (free of charge, but not that well equipped, so only interesting for a short period).
The only thing that bothered me was smoking- bedrooms and the main restaurant are smoke free, but everywhere else is a smoking zone, so could get quite unpleasant.
Still, despite that, I would go back- the hotel is extremely good value for money; kids under 6 don't pay anything.
