We've been staying at Reidt's for years every spring during the 100-mile garage sales which coincide with the St. Jude bass tournament the first weekend in May. We have never been disappointed. Tammy is very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are always reasonable and very clean, albeit small. There are no queen beds, only a few double beds and mostly twins. There are two cabins available for parties of four to six people and electrical hookups for your boat. Homey touches and quaint decorations abound. If you're looking for a clean and peaceful place to lay your head, Reidt's is the place.

We traveled from AZ on a winter birding trip & found this on Google maps. Small, clean rooms; simply & tastefully painted & decorated; cotton sateen sheets& new linens on comfortable double bed (we didn't even miss a queen) {2 twins also available}. Modern microwave, small fridge, coffee pot & supplies, real drinking glasses & china cups. Lots of hot water once I figured out that handle was on the right. Room warm even with unusual -11° temperature spell. Friendly Tammy & husband like birds & keep multiple feeders full that attract hungry winter birds- 2 Pileated woodpeckers &1 Downey woodpecker while we where there. They also report putting out grape jelly in warm months & get many orioles. Only one mile north of Mississippi River Lock & Dam #4 at Alma, WI with largest lake-like area below dam - large area not frozen & plenty if ducks. We were able to confirm previous eBird.com sighting of juvenile Harlequin duck among Common Goldeneye & Mergansers. Nice American town, good real food in village. Highly recommend staying here-a little treasure. They even have a painting of a descending eagle on their Well-lit sign! On main road in rural area, very easy to find.

A friend and I needed a reasonably priced 2 bedded room for a night before a birding trip along the Mississippi River and this fit the bill very well. Yes, it is close to the railroad track and the road but it is hard to find a place along the Wisconsin side of the river on the 35 that is not. The road generally quieted down well after 11 and only one train went through in the middle of the night. If you have a hard time getting back to sleep, take earplugs.
The owner loves birds, was friendly and helpful, to the point of finding dishes for us so we could breakfast in our room early before our outing. It is an older but refurbished, family owned and run smaller motel with a few larger housekeeping units. We had a 2 twin room with microwave, fridge , coffee maker, shower, and 2 chairs for half of what the nearest chain motel was charging for a Saturday night stay.
It was very clean, beds were comfortable , other residents were mostly fisher folk and were absolutely quiet after 10 pm. If you need a comfortable, clean place to stay while exploring the wonderful Mississippi River area around Alma this could work for you.

Room Tip: There are 2 freestanding larger housekeeping units that would be good for families or groups of frie...

We could tell from the time we arrived that Tammy had been in the hospitality business nearly all her life and really enjoyed it. She was quick to make us feel welcome and offered such clean, reasonably-priced (albeit small) rooms, that we would surely come back again. A couple of larger units are available, but the 'motel rooms' have a small (but lots of hot water) shower, smaller beds, coffee with filters and a coffeemaker, satellite TV and everything was clean, clean, clean. If you don't need something fancy with all the amenities, try Reidt's (pronounced "Rights").

First, the bad news. Reidt's is about 500 feet from a busy railroad line, and it seems closer. And, just like 40 years ago, you are unlikely to find a nonsmoking room.

Those caveats aside, though, I still recommend Reidt's. It's a friendly, family-run place that offers excellent value to travelers. Sure, there are more precious places to stay on the Great River Road, but to get a flavor of the type of place your folks stayed when they did a road trip, this is the place.

We stayed on a Thursday night, and got a 3 bedroom, 6 (twin) beds suite for $85. It had a dining table and full kitchen, including coffee and coffeemaker. Everything was clean, and everything worked. There was cable TV. The place was decorated with knickknacks and tchotchkes that must have been found at various garage sales and church bazaars. It felt like staying at your great aunt's house.
