On our latest trip around Lake Pepin we timed our arrival in Alma for lunch at Kate and Gracie's. We were so disappointed to find that they had closed in March. This was our absolute favorite stop. So sorry they have closed and hope they make a come-back!

We have a boat in the nearby marina, and this is our regular stop on Fridays. When we arrive and are too pooped to cook, we always get a nice meal at Kate and Gracie's. Reason prices for very good pasta, sandwiches and mains.

Very reasonably priced sandwich and salad selection, a nice array of entrees and seasonal specials. We tried a delicious pasta ($10) and salad ($9) and the salmon chowder ($5)-- all terrific. Good drinks and a cozy bar. Very kind and attentive service.

Well worth the drive to find this gem. Everything we ate was exceptional. The host was engaging, and their infrequently offered Morrocan Pork Stew is the best soup EVER!!!

This restaurant is an adorable little place in a prime location on the Mississippi River. The server was friendly and the service was timely. We loved everything about the atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. The hummus appetizer that we ordered was inedible. I love garlic; however, this hummus had so much garlic in it that it burned when it touched my tongue. We explained the problem to the server and sent the appetizer back. We could overhear the server and the owner of the restaurant discussing the problem. When the server told the owner that there was too much garlic, the owner quickly snapped that "It's supposed to have garlic in it". They didn't offer us something different, or another hummus platter with hummus that had been fixed. The owners lack of concern about our disappointment in the appetizer was shocking.

We moved on to salads, which were edible but not great. At this point in our meal we were not willing to spend any more. We finished our wine, paid for our food, and went to a different place for a meal.
