Caracoles Eco - Lodge
Reviewed October 3, 2011

We are a family of four and were very impressed with Caracoles Lodge and Bala Tours. From the outset with our queries Piter was informative and helpful, going the extra mile o accommodate our needs.

We were given a large room for our with shared bathrooms, which were always very clean, as were the showers. The food was impressive, with the chef outdoing himself with our vegetarian requirements. In general, the lodge is basic but it is clean and the staff were really fantastic. They even arranged a birthday cake for our daughter's 8th birthday!

We stayed for four nights, with various excursions on each day, enjoying the animals, going swimming, fishing and even horseback riding amidst stunning landscapes.

This tour and lodge were very good value for money and we would happily recommend them.

Room Tip: There are both private and shared bathrooms available.

We booked a 3D/2N Pampas tour with Bala tours (based in Rurrenabaque). They own the Caracoles eco-lodge 3 hours drive from Rurrenabaque. The lodge is great, it´s based along the River Yacuma so boat trips to see wildlife along the river is common.

The guides are excellent and eco-friendly! During our time we saw loads of caiman, capybara, anacondas & other snakes, loads of monkeys, birds and amazon river dolphins.

There are shared and private options available. Mineral water is provided and other drinks can be bought. The variety and quality of food is good - loads of veggie options. Showers are cold but in the heat you need them!

Bear in mind that the Pampas reserve is polluted with plastic so please combine your river boat trip by assisting the guides with removing the bottles from the river!
