Watched the gardeners preparing the trees for winter as we entered the garden which was interesting to see. Takes such a long time to prepare them for the snow and learned something new there!

Looked into the Western House first, which is nice inside with what looked like a very pleasant coffee shop, but dear me they were selling lots of China made Christmas tat at high prices which rather spoiled the look of the house.

But onto the gardens, which as the further you went down towards the lake/pond the better it got. Part of the pond was sectioned off for repair which looked messy but the other views around more than made up for it.

Nice tea ceremony house which looked quite spectacular with the autumn colours in full display.

I did get some very good photos, and on the day we went it was quite quiet, very warm and pleasant to walk around which took around 40 mins at slow pace. and would say its worth a visit at 300yen (or part of a multi price ticket with the castle which was cheaper)

A great turn of the 19th Century house, Jomon period museum and spectacular gardens overlooking Mt Iwate. Definitely worth a visit.

When we first entered the garden it didn't look like much, but then we walked down the hill to the lower garden, which was beautiful. It had small bridges connecting different areas, a waterfall, and a tea ceremony room.

Also, the Western house connected to the garden had a very nice cafe, serving all sorts of delicious apple and non-apple related treats. We got a chocolate molten cake dessert and apple pie, as well as apple tea, all of which was delicious.

If you also plan to visit the Hirosaki Castle, and botanical gardens there is a ticket that gives admission to all 3, that is a slight discount.
