When was the last time you opened a hotel door with a key opening a deadbolt? Well, for such a retro experience, the Ise City Hotel is it. This place has an acceptable location, and the staff were pleasant, but the facility is totally outdated. It is shabby, the carpets were worn and stained, both in and out of our room and the lighting was inadequate. Not an uplifting experience. I've heard that business hotels in general are having a tough economic time in Japan, and updating, at least here is being deferred.
One good point is that the restaurants associated with the hotel were quite good. Dinner was good, and breakfast the next day was tasty and ample. The meals are not included in the hotel price.
I'd recommend eating at the hotel, and staying elsewhere.
