We stayed with friends in Hamamatsu and they took us the a gorgeous rose garden which is privately owned and then the took us here to the flower park. Honestly, if you miss the cherry blossom season, then don't worry, because straight after that all the other flowers start blooming and it's a magnificent array of colours that are just amazing. We were awestruck.

It is 800 yen itself and 1000 yen if you combine it with the fruit park (fruit park is 700 yen itself). When sakura is blossoming the sakura path at the end is just gorgeous. There was a tulip festival at the time I went there (mid april) which gave pretty colors to all the gardens. There is a fountain show every hour. Some botanical gardens in other places are better, but it is a nice stop if you want to see and buy nice flowers.

Hamamatsu Flower Park is not to be confused with Hamamatsu Garden Park, which is the same area. The Flower Park is a adjacent to the Hamamatsu Zoo, and you can get an all in one ticket. During peak seasons (Spring Flowering & Fall Tree Color time) during weekends the park can be quite crowded, and parking can be an issue. And you may have to stand in line for a ticket. But the Japanese are all so polite, that a little crowding and waiting is not a bad experience. It's a pretty little place with areas for picnicing and playing ball or frisbee. There is a large pond with a fountain at the center, with a sound show every so often. And a large green house with tropical plants from around the world. It is a nice place to take a breather and having a slow paced afternoon.
